In my opinion Lume 2 looks better.

Sorry, Randy. Didn't mean to ignore you...

The bracelet is going to be completely on you. If you can find a Seiko with a bracelet you like (on Amazon, of course), you should plan on going with that one. If not, you can easily get a different bracelet or strap to fit any Seiko (the Seiko 5s have a 19mm lug size, the divers are 22mm) and get it swapped at a jeweler.

When you're searching, make sure to specify the lug size and remember that a 'bracelet' is linked metal, while anything made of a flexible material (cloth, leather, rubber, carbon fiber) is a 'strap'. You can also find a ton of 'band', which isn't a correct term, but is in common use.

Just a reminder:If you don't want a new watch from Amazon...

You can absolutely still buy a dial and hands from this buy.

After that, it is on you to find your own donor watch and contact a watchmaker to do the work. As I said before, I can personally recommend Duarte Mendonca at Northeast Watch Works, Randall Benson at Hands of Time, or Jack Alexyon at Industrial Watch Works.

I tend to agree with other on Lume 2.

RE Randy V, see post #212 above. Any case and bracelet combo you can find a amazon with a 7S26 movement and 4 o'clock crown will work. I listed a bunch of choices in post #208 that fit the bill.
(Edit- this was written but not posted before the above, but left since it may offer some help)

For the most part, this is a custom dial project with a standard issue case or one of your choosing. I beleive you get original donor watch hands or these:

Are we set on only one set of custom hands by DAGAZ or any available here; such as these:

Well, I'd like to limit it to one type of hands just to make my life a little easier.

Tell you what: If you want a set of hands different from the group buy, buy any set of hands you want and mail them to me and I'll send them to Duarte along with everything else.

As many watches I own I'm my own 'jeweler' with a full set of watch tools.

Come on - you don't think most 928 guys can figure out how to swap a watch bracelet, not to mention remove links, replace batteries, etc.?

Honestly, I was surprised at how many wanted a complete watch, rather than opting to build their own.

Well if we were all perfect mechanics, then there'd be no use for the RL 928 forum eh? Except for the camaraderie of course, and to get need 928 stuff like a watch!

Lume 2 is my vote, it indeed looks more balanced that way.

Cool I'm down w/that, I just want what was shown #9 for $150. Shawn lost me on all that choose on Amazon and the +90 stuff.

Sorry for the hassle., but everytime I used PayPal they bill my cc for items I never purchased, ends up w/ hours on the phone trying to get my $ back.
Even had to block one cc and cancel another, now I just say no.

Thanks again, I'll pm you

Dave

No worries, guys. When the time comes it's going to be just a couple of options:
  • Gimme #9 as shown!
  • Gimme just some dials!
  • Gimme some other watch!
  • ...and I'll mail you a different set of hands.

I like both Lume 1 and Lume 2. Either is fine with me.
