Thanks, Randy! Definitely an awesome thread. I guess I was confused because in my previous car forums TB was usually Throttle Body, but I stand corrected

flexplate generally not an issue on the aerlier a/t's. Pre 86 should not be an issue, as the factory did use a clip to hold the shaft in place.

I spent an entire day cleaning and taking apart as much of the dash as I could to see what needs to be replaced, what can be reconditioned. So far so good. Here are so me current pics before I replace all the exterior lights.

They are S4 wheels - but he has them on the correct ends. You can see the deeper dish on the rears in a couple of the shots.

JohnnyV - they're definitely off an S4 - prior to '87 the sets of dish (aka manhole) wheels were 16x7 on all four corners. With the S4, the rears became 16x8 with a deeper inset dish like yours are.

Good choice putting the lights back . They look a little misty, as do most of ours. I keep meaning to get the stuff to polish them clear again - a couple of rennlisters have done so, and if you search for "cerium oxide" you should find the threads with pics and advice.

Making the post yesterday prompted me to order some cerium oxide.. so I'll be having a go at one of mine with some wet and dry (1200/1500/2000) and then cerium oxide to finish.

Small update:

Installed new Bosch battery and WOW what a difference. The old battery didn't fit right and just sucked overall.

With the new battery, lights that never worked started working, idle was smoother, and the overall feel of the car improved. Took her for a nice ride around town and came home smiling
