Johnny V,
Didn't mean to tweak you.
The flexplate business is easy - a little PITA the first time with the two rearward bell housing nuts. See dwaynesgarage.norcal928.org/. Dwayne does outstanding tutorial walk throughs with pics/explanations.
Google Porken for the liftbars and others (PKlamp & tensioner). The liftbars are a must.

PS What parta Jersey ? I'm from Sheepshead Bay - Brooklyn
Best wishes

I'm from the Jersey Shore..yes....THAT Jersey Shore, lol. I'm like 5 minutes from Seaside Heights. In the pdf file, it says it may be a tad different for pre-85 928's, so I'll be checking out dwayne's garage as you suggested.

Johnny
Also use 928 Tips through Google - it's good for simple common issues. You may get shifted to another page, so page back, hit 928 Tips again and you're there.

Both of those write-ups were amazing. They will prove invaluable when I do this soon!

When I started here on Rennlist back in 2005, I didn't know mutch about the 928 and how to work on them.
It is because of many very knowledgeable peoples here that I know a bit more now.
Those guys who write those procedures are the real pros. Thanks to all of you.
... I'm just starting to know these cars!

Johnny,
When you do your first timing / belt water pump, go to 928 International site Repairs. Use John Pirtle's tutorial for the job. Look it over for study , for it involves all elements on the front of the engine which may come in handy for something like changing any accessory belts (alternator, etc.), distributor cap and so on.

Johnny, all of those links for Dwayne's step by step are in one spot on the 928oc under the Technical Library

Rennlist is a great forum because the opinions, repairs, and design ideas, range from far left to far right.
Some of the members here are true professionals but it just takes a while to know them.

I am a junky so i normally have both pages open at once and just document my repairs at 928oc and repeat any new knowledge that gets sorted here.

Thanks, Ish. I'd like to think that she's in good hands now

Betrand/Maine/bwmac, I was skeptical as to how much help I would get from start to finish...now I know that I picked the right community to be a part of!
