Started replacing the brake booster. Not as bad as working on the 951, but still pretty tight. Had to order a few things from Roger. I gotta replace some paint in there where brake fluid ate it off.

Aligned the front wheels better. Got transmission to computer connector cleaned up and properly fastened. Bent back some heat shields away from exhaust and transmission hoping to eliminate assorted rattles. Searched in vain for the main rattle. Sounds like a bolt or socket rocking and then rattling when accelerating somewhere in the heater box/firewall area. Each day the noise drives me closer to insanity. Any ideas are welcome...

Other than that it was a good day.

I really didn't do anything, but I did get my supercharger back from Vortech today. They replaced the input bearing under warranty, made a gravelly sound. Hopefully manana i can bolt it up and waken the beast!

Put on the new replacement stickers which were worn off of my intake; yellow 3 2 V and one of the P's in red... Wish my iPhone camera lens was not so scratched up so I could take some pics!

Just now have had time to get aquainted with the new car.
Washed it-87 stick- and really became aquainted with the shifting pattern.
Been a long time since I've driven a manual AND with a Dog leg!(never)

One thing. Putting in first gear from neutral has massive torque.
Moving from first gear is not so smooth and I'm working on it.

Takeoffs at second gear are smooth.
The engine is way too quiet for my liking. I can't hear the rev's.!! The vehicle still has the original hood- sound/heat insulation !

I must say , in 2nd. gear at 4500 rpm and changing into wonderful 3rd. is pure heaven.
The engine feels like a high torque electric motor.

- Of course the Auto is so much easier to drive and it seems that I am lesser involved in the driving experience.
- I cannot believe how much tighter the whole car feels as opposed to the Auto.

- Bit of a hassle to get into the car with -sport seats-. Got to be a way that is not of a contorsionist example. I don't wish to wear out the sport side bolster.

Finally finished up my AC yesterday, so I thought. New compressor, new dryer, new expansion valve, new o rings throughout, replaced hoses, and replaced low pressure aluminum tube, drew a good vacuum for 12+ hours, and held it for another 12 hours…added 36 oz R-12, works fine. Took it for a drive, nice to have a cool car, returned home, big hiss when I shut car off, $60 worth of R-12 returns to the ozone layer….CRAP! don’t know why yet, but not happy today

Yesterday I replaced the gas filler boot, drain hose and clamp. The old boot was torn and the connection for the drain hose ripped off:

I also added a new drain hose and clamp. It's an easy job, but I'm glad I left the gas cap on when I pulled the old dirt encrusted boot.

Default A-Arm

Fixed my alignment been trying to work out why the drivers side was so far out, at some time in the cars life had the lower a-arm replaced with a S4 arm instead of a S3 arm (anyone need a S4 lower a-arm )

Default Fixed Steering Wheel

Installed 928 347 099 00 slip ring which restored my horn and turn signal release functionality. This part was needed because the PO had installed a steering wheel approximately 4 inches in diameter and I replaced it with a stock wheel that had a 1 inch extender spacer. The stock wheel was missing the slip ring.

For the slip ring to fit you must trim back the turn signal tab to the notch otherwise the wheel will not fit. There is an obvious marker on where the trim length should be cut. I used a "gentle" hack saw and file to trim the tab and fitment was perfect.

It's nice having a horn and turn signals that auto-turnoff again.
