So what did you do to your 928 Today......

Headache time today.
Went to replace the fuel retention check valve at back and ran into a problem. Had removed the wire leads from the pump to allow for a good counter hold, and when closing the job up the stalk on the + lead snapped off. I had barely applied any torque to it. I just placed the 7mm nut in a nut driver and was lightly swiveling it on when it just kept on turning. Then I find the the stalk snapped off and is within the nut. PITA. Now I have to wait for a new pump to come in. Bad day.
I guess it better to happen now, rather then fault in the stalk letting go while on some rough pavement.

Unlike most reads here lately, I got a little slideways today in my A/T that takes off in first gear from dead stop, .everytime..unlike everyone else's....
Yeah, I'm on a rant...
Oh yeah, my r12 A/C system works fine since the last recharge.....last year.

Replace the headlight raising bar that goes in between the 2 headlights and connects to the motor. Now my headlights raise smoothly and more evenly.
Next I need to replace the crash damaged drivers side headlight pod...

On Friday, the refinished seats came back looking beautiful.
On Saturday, we had a small norcal928 gathering where we upgraded the headlights to H4, replaced an instrument bulb, and reinstalled the seats. I thoroughly cleaned the carpets while I had easy access; now the interior looks as close to new as it gets.
Today I took it on a drive to Sausalito and I visited one of my clients, who happens to be a Porsche nut. I got to see his pristine 911s, and he got to experience a 928 for the first time in his life. He absolutely loved it!
Upon returning home, I adjusted the windshield washer nozzles and gave the baby a nice bath.

Made a new box for the trunk switch
The passenger side trunk release switch never worked and the carpet box was loose, when I took it all apart it I found water damage that had rotted whatever the box was made of and the switch internals. Tried to guess the shape and made one out of wood, glued the carpet to it and repaired the overpriced switch.

I had Fibrenew Water Gap (from PA) repair nasty abrasions and 1 1/2 inch tear in my new-to-me 1985 928's left sear side bolster. Eileen did an amazing job!
Before and after repair. Before was even uglier in real life... Came out like new.

Took her in for alignment to local VW Dealership. A buddy runs the Service Department said his guy is one of the most thorough exacting guys he's seen in awhile. His name is Jeremy and I'm not sure if he was even born yet when this car was made but he jumped at the opportunity to learn and do it right. The machine is state of the art and had step by step instructions and he didn't even flinch going in.
The car did cause a mechanic swarm as she entered the shop.
Jeremy the technician ready to roll. Once he got all connections loosened he found he had to make multiple visits to each wheel as one tweak caused movement elsewhere.

Inspired after getting alignment that is frankly awesome see pic below of before and after numbers. The tech said he couldn't pull caster in because shim was worn out. I tend to believe him because he spent over 5 hours tweaking. Not bad for a $125 alignment. Not to exploit anyone, the dealership enjoyed working on the car and locked me into attending several charitable with the car which I will gladly do.
I decided to fix windshield squirters. Headlight washers have been out of commission since she got painted. When I removed front bumper one of the connectors was brittle and snapped. Schedule did not allow me to get replacement before re-assembly.
I simplified plumbing from windshield reservoir to eliminate "intensive" headlight washers, hope I got the definition right but line to intensive reservoir is deleted. Not sure why Fritz had line from main reservoir feed into intensive reservoir. Maybe he wanted to make diagnosing a problem non deterministic(is it main reservoir or intensive reservoir). WTF.
Back on earth the nozzles for windshield responded well to a small paperclip for cleaning. A small pick and push pin didn't do the job. The paperclip was long enough to clear the throat of the nozzle which ultimately was the trick.
Next up is brake job...
