So what did you do to your 928 Today......

Getting ready for the long cold spell...so, I drove old red (78) around until the gas gauge was as low as I could get it. Refilled, added a half can of stabilizer. She won't get put on jack stand or tires removed until I do one last cleaning and wax on, wax off.
Side note: The drive was pretty spirited and adrenaline level was on high alert for most of the ride. Good stuff.

Completed(mostly) the long delayed brake job. Brake wear sensors were problematic. Fronts came out mostly intact, rears not so lucky. Order placed to Roger...
Replaced all rotors with Zimmerman Drilled units while getting crap from my track rat friend telling me that drilled rotors don't work any better, can potentially crack and really are just used to look cool. I said yes, they look cool.
Rear discs had to be coerced off with pilot screws that screw into axle assembly in order to push rotor from axle. Just make sure you have the pilot screws(8 or 10mm ?) handy because all of my metric hammers could not get the damn rotors off.
The only real hassle was rear pads were too tight a fit sliding into calipers so I had to grind the Vertical height a few thousandths to make them slide into place. Front pads did not require any adjustments.
I do have a "Brake Pad Wear Warning" indication in the dash until new sensors arrive but new brakes are tight and balanced. Not too of a job relatively speaking.
Time was tight so I didn't replace brake lines with Stainless Steel replacements. A battle for another day!

Progress
Intake is off (man what a PITA that is!) cam covers next. All I need is time. In the valley I found pretty much everything you'd expect to find in the bottom of a valley, sticks, mud, rat poop, etc etc. I only managed to get a little bit of it down holes where it shouldna gone. Eek.
Pressure washed this octopus. Now to work out powder coat or paint. I think I already know the answer to that.

Found a dead passenger side fan after seeing coolant temps creeping up on hot days. Suspected fan final stage going bad. Further investigation revealed wiring popped out of holder and rubbed crank pulley and wore through wiring. Going to repair in morning at work. Prolly turn into a four hour job since my lift is occupied by my daughter's C280 going through a rebuild and can't take off due to no brakes.

After being inspired by William and Rob Edwards efforts in the 1978 5spd #107 just arrived thread, I started taking a BFH to the chassis rails to get out the dents from previous improper jack placements. One side is looking much better, more agro to be carried out on the driver's side later.

Went to fix my flakey left parking light by installing the new-old-stock headlight switch I bought on ebay. Looked like a simple 5 minute job. Nope. The PO didn't have it plugged in all the way, so the plug fell off inside the pod. I fought with it for an hour and found out my new switch was defective, and the old one works perfectly when it's plugged in properly. Oh well, I got a new **** and light bulb out of it.

Went to a Cars and Coffee type event at the new Lamborghini place. Caravan to the show included a C7 'vette, a McLaren, a Maserati and a couple Ferraris (one being my friend's ridiculously loud 360). I have to say, that was a pretty fun little ride. I wish the destination had been a little farther away
The Lamborghini place happens to be right next door to the new West Broward Porsche dealer, so we all walked over there to check it out. I have to say, it's one of the nicest dealerships I've seen. Here's their shop...looking better than some show rooms. Shout-out to the two 928s in the back (there's a black one with phone dials behind the white car...can't really see it in this shot)

Started on the winter projects: Cam seals, driver's side cargo liner and door skin. I took a look at the cam seal and decided to wait until I could study the Brownridge guide. I got the visible screws out of the cargo liner and was stymied by something I can't figure out, so I'll be looking for a removal guide for that as well. I did get the door skin off, only to find that at some point someone had patched the mirror wires together without a connector, so I'm now shopping for 5-pin molex.
I've got a lot to do by Hershey!

Replaced a leaky high pressure steering line today, going to replace the other low pressure lines and install a new reservoir when that comes in. Perfect activity for a rainy day in NorCal!

Removed some of the 1980's and maybe some of the 1990's too
I decided to remove some electronics installed by some of the previous owners.
The trickle charger looks to be fairly recent.
The Clifford Alarm looks to be from the 1990's I am sure glad to get all that rogue wiring out of the system. That will be a few less electrical parts to fail, create draw, or poorly ground.

Clean engine bay
Purchased the car earlier this year and started cleaning the engine bay:
1. removed the old hood heat insulating pad (crumbling)
2. cleaned engine bay.
Next:
1. replace fuel lines
2. clean fuel tank and replace outlet filter screen
3. change water pump
4. replace timing belt
