If you do, I may have a core for you if you need it. Otherwise it's likely going in the trash.

I removed the pod, took out the instruments and repaired the odometer gear. Also cleaned all the contacts and adjusted the fuel gauge needle. Next up, attempt to resolder the flex contacts for the speedo, adjust the voltage gauge and install LEDs, before putting it all back into a leather replacement pod.

My eyes are not doing so well with some of this close-up work lol...

I need cores! PM me. I'll arrange shipment. How much do you think is fair for the pod?

Hello fellows, it's been a while. Finally got myself, and the car, in a place where I can drive and work on it. Just put the first couple of hundred mile on after it had been in an extended winter hibernation. Started on first throw and sounds and smells great. No runs, no drips, no errors. First overdue bit a work was to repair the passenger side rear hatch switch that my son stepped on an broke off. Works like it should but ordered a now rosette and icon piece from Roger.

Scranton region had their Antique Automobile Club of America show today. Took home first in my class. Was a little shocked as there were some nice cars there.

Put back the CE panel in place after cleaning.

Started the car and everything was good for... 10sec.!

It went into limp mode - green light on the LH.

Stopped it, unplugged the LH and plugged it again.

Started the car again and everything's good. Went for a little ride and still good.

From this:

To that :

Changed all fuses and cleaned all relays.

...And back to this:

Not a big job but take some time.
Another preventive job done.

Default Received a batch of goodies Thursday...

Oil filter, steering rack boot, tools, battery ground cable and door panel cable tube trim pieces R&L for old blacky (84).

Drivers compartment black carpet, 28 - door panel black plastic attachment clips and door panel cable tube trim pieces R&L for old red (78).

Thursday:

Installed 14 new black clips on drivers door panel for the 78, snapped right in place and stayed put. I'd screwed around with the door panel for hours previously, but it kept coming loose along the top edge. Going to redo the passenger side when I get a chance. Best $28.00 I've ever spent. Replaced drivers compartment floor carpet, used, but much better than what was there.

Installed the ground cable and put new/used tools in rear compartment panel on 84.

Friday:

Took some alignment measurements on old blacky, since I'd previously adjusted ride height, and changed my torn rack boot and oil filter/oil (from hoist mishap), and made toe-in adjustments. Road test, seemed pretty good, steering wheel straight again, but will measure again after a few more miles. While putting the car back in the garage, after cooling off outside, flipped the headlights on...and they popped up...but no lights. One step forward, two steps back...lol.

Saturday:

Spent most of the morning working on the headlights, combination headlight relay seems to be the problem. Disassembled relay and cleaned all contacts, but the one solenoid that supplies power to dimmer/brights contact is not pulling down. Went through several diagnostic test and checked and rechecked wiring diagrams...will order new relay.

Sunday:

Worked on the headlights for a bit, thought I could maybe add an external relay to control power loss...but it would have been more work than it was worth. Then messed around soldering a internal jumper wire inside the combo relay. Headlights worked...but wouldn't shut off. Major brain-fart on my part once I thought about what I'd done...oh well...had a chance to improve my soldering skills.

Finished installing the last two brake wear sensor harnesses on old red. Cleaned all rims (inner portion) and installed.

Pretty productive last few days.

Brian.

Drove it 1600 miles in the high dessert. Seattle to Reno NV to Bend Oregon back to Seattle.

Always paying a small price of admission to the awesome hi ways the state of California maintains for me.

Thanks Malcolm.

You're right.
I Wonder why I didn't change all of them last year when I changed the one for the X-Bus, starter, EZK, LH and fuel pump... ??

I'll put the others on my next parts order!
