So what did you do to your 928 Today......

Sanding!
I started in on sanding down the old faded brown paint. I got to work with 80-100 grit, taking it down to just below the base coat in most areas. I have some rust issues on the roof and hatchback, so I took those down to bare metal for treatment. I'm thinking if using the lemon juice solution to eat the rust away and then a neutralizing base after.
1980, US Automatic L-Jet.
Yes the emblem is coming off before I go any further on the hood.
Is the base color of the plastic nose supposed to be red? If yes, that would explain why anytime I see one listed for sale, it's red.

Wow thanks! It's my first time ever doing something like this to a car, so I was half expecting "Dude! What were you thinking?!?" (Like some of my posts on troubleshooting the dreaded start and die syndrome. Thanks again.

If it were me...I'd do a bit of disassebling before anymore sanding was done.
Those markers lights, head light assembly, front and rear fascia, window trim (door, windshield and quarter glass), mirrors and other odds and ends should be removed. One slip of the DA sander and those pieces will be ruined beyond repair. Plus, you will probably be replacing the rubber fit molding between the fascia's and body panels anyway.
Window trim can be painstakingly difficult to remove, but just go slow and stop if things don't seem to be going as planned. Also, I believe there are two tinny screws on the leading edge of both door window glass trim pieces...that you will not see...unless you really look hard.
What color are you going with?
Good luck, with your project.
Brian.

Hunting mystery vacuum line
Continued hunting my mystery vacuum line under the center console.
Found it is connected to a white vacuum line emerging behind the fuse panel. Still don't know what the PO had this connected to?

Installed X-Pipe
Installed a X-Pipe with new O2 sensor.
Let me tell you that 30 yr old rusted bolts are an absolute pain to remove.
Left everything stock behind the X-Pipe. Now this car just sounds plain angry.

I'm thinking black. I've always been partial to black 928's, since Weird Science I suppose.

Finally and officially sold my 82 5 speed.
It took forever to find someone who appreciated all the work that went into the car and that would pay a fair price.
The new owner is happy and I am satisfied. Not ecstatic with the results but the deal was fair.
As much as this car has been a royal frustrating pain the * ss on many occasions, I will miss seeing it gleaming in the garage. But it time to move on.
Thanks for all the help I have received over the last 3 years. It enabled me to fix all the gremlins and evolve this car into a true daily driver that is as reliable as a 33 year old 928 can possibly be.

Oil change and detailing
Finally fixed some of PO's sins (NAPA oil filter) with replacing the oil with Mobil 1 15w50, Mann Filter from Roger, and Futomoto drain valve inserted. Oil pressure gained at least 30-40% of a bar on the gauge with these changes and no more "Low Oil Pressure" warning when engine temperature reaches ~185 degrees. Now it sits right below 2, and not just above 1. I am happy.
Much needed detailing done with new toys:
-Flex random orbital
-Menzerna Polish, followed by Menzerna wax (2 coats)
-finally Turtle Wax ICE Spray Wax for the wheels!
What do you think?
