No. 1: Those wheels are not hideous.
No. 2: The 928 is not the most beautiful car ever made.
Sorry, but much as I love my 928, its original wheels were nothing special, and while beautiful, there are much more beautiful cars in existence. JMHO.

Dropped my 1990 S4 off at the body shop today to start the full glass out re-spray. I'll try to post pics of the progress. Here is a link to some pics of other work the shop has done. I've seen the green Carrera in person and it is flawless. I will be a slobbering mess for the next 6-8 weeks waiting to see the finished product. I'm going to be re-dyeing the rear seats and rear center console while the car is getting a fresh coat of paint. Wish me luck.

Well couldn't get a lift at the shop to do swap to S4 windscreen washer setup and overflow tank R&R...but my flouro-lined (oil resistant) silicone intake boots came in from UK. Cut to size, installed. Closer fit that the prior silicone, hopefully more resilient than the last factory set that I got that was cracking after just a few months. Also like Noobie strarted list of repairs to $100+ dollar mechanic's work...a/c system and other minutae. I've promised myself some non-car weekends this summer, dangitall!

Continued the stereoectomy on GTS. At least the installer was kind enough not to cut off the vinyl ears when they installed rings in the rear quarters:

Gluing back down the vinyl:

Started to tear apart the hatch area, clean & SEM the vinyl, re-glue the vinyl to the frames (duct tape from the PPO doesn't hold well over time) and re-establish the anchor points in the frame with white vinyl anchors so I can replace the previously-broken trim clips.

Joe,
The guy I'm using quoted just over $5K for prep, paint and labor to dis-assemble and re-assemble. I have to supply all the rubber bits which will be another $2K-$3k depending. At the price he quoted I didn't even think about doing any of the teardown and re-assembly myself. Most major metro markets seem to run $8K-$12k for a full glass out job.

Got most of my Sharkwoofer installation (thanks Hans!). I still need to fine-tune everything, but...I have bass! And enough volume in general to hear over my engine and wind (if I want to)!

Solving fuel delivery and warm start issues - replaced the fuel accumulator: first install - fuel leak -had to go to five stores to find a copper crush ring that would fit the connector to the fuel filter; second install - no leaks but running rough. Probably going to rebuild the fuel distributor tomorrow. Always something.....

Can you post more pictures of the LED bulb end.. are there LED's on opposing sides?
Note your retention mechanism isn't working right - see photo below the right side clip seems fine - the left side isn't exerting any pressure... The retention clips are designed to keep the weather seal cap on - it is a lot bulkier than the bulb alone - so you may need to bend in a bow to the middle of the clip to ensure it seats the bulb well. This is esp. important since you no longer have the secondary seal ring. I'd be inclined to find a very very thin rubber washer and install it as a vapor seal ring also (between the grey plastic bulb. part and the reflector bulb socket).
These do look really nice - what is your experience with the light pattern & brightness?

I finally installed the extra Brey-Krause mount I got for my Halon fire extinguisher.
The first mount is on the movable portion of the passenger seat - very low - I've had this for years - it works great and is easy to access. However it does get in the way a little for a passenger riding in the car for a while (like a long trip with my wife!). Actually it seems that tall people - without handbags - seem to find it quite OK....
So just added a second B-K mount point for the Halon extinguisher. No it can either go on the front/bottom of the passenger seat (my preferred normal easy access location) or for a long trip with my wife, I can relocate it back out of the way to below the rear passenger seat. I find really keeps the cabin noise level lower that way
.
It's still accessible from the driver's seat but is rather more awkward - esp. if the front seat is all the way back. Still options are good to have.
