Jeff, when I have a set of these available for you for the S4 I am going to suggest that you order them with the sound material that I am going to be installing on them and then see what kind of noise you might still be troubled by before you add the additional material you have in mind.

Of course when they are yours you can do whatever you wish with them and you wont have to worry about voiding any warranty, since there wont be any; but I think you are going to find that the noise you seem to be concerned about will be pretty effectively dealt with with the MLV and decoupler I'm going to install. If not, then I would suggest that you add stuffing of some sort between the liners and the car and leave the tire side surface clean.

Your call, of course.

*nods*

HF sound will come from OUTSIDE the car, not thru the liner.

Check it on newer cars..the liners are plastic..but with a tuft'd surface on the inner side for HF noise, debris rattle, and to some extent mist in the rain. (guessing on the last one)

There wa a big difference in road noise between the wifes last two mazdas..the difference IMHO was that soft-fabric like surface they put inside the liners now.

I would plead that the ones with PSD's waiting to be serviced due to fear of disintegrating the stock liners would have priority over ones with 928's without PSD. I can show picture evidence of the pathetic state of my existing liners

Dan, your post #316 put you on my list, but the list is going to have to break down into two lists--one for the GTS and another for the GT/S4 liners which will follow, I think, when I can take the time away from meeting the thrust of GTS demand when I start production. We will just have to see how any other criteria plays into my limited ability to produce these when I get started.

There -has- to be a more mass-producing forming place here in the US that will take a form..and mass produce it.

Im guessing, maybe many dozens GTS sets in the US, and then a number O hundreds for S4, month one...they produce & ship, and you take a $25/set fee (or something).

Seriously..I think you'll need enough 3-4 sets weekends to make a thousand sets in the first year...USA only.

I still fully expect to be able to have these to fit, in fact, all of the 928s. I advise that you should not spend a lot of time being concerned about any list that I might start out with because after the opening of this project to production I plan to meet everyone's needs. It may just take a bit of time.
As long as everyone knows the line forms behind me, I'm fine with that.

Jerry...........not sure if you have given any further consideration for international shipments but for Canadian customers we can centralise distribution.

This strategy minimises shipping and customs issues we sometimes tend to have.

Tell you what - once I install mine from Jerry - I'll send you my pair of rear S4 splash shields that work with a PSD - not as good as a full liner - but far far better than nothing.

Thanks Alan, that is very generous of you. I was actually going to buy new S4 rear splash shields, but every time I do, this thread is updated with progress so I keep thinking I can wait just a little bit longer.

Dan. your name is down about 20 on the first list (which includes a few S4/GT customers who are going to be waiting a little longer) and it includes some of the field testers, so you are probably about 12 to 16 on the boiled-down list. I hope that means that I can get you a set of these before the end of the year. There are still some variables to work out and of course the field testing which I hope does not turn up any significant issue, so I hope to meet your needs pretty soon.

I think I have finally figured out how to make the last of the tooling I want to send with these to customers, and that is the guide for drilling holes in the liners that work with the 4 holes in the face of the frame rail at the inboard surface of these liners.

Hey Jerry,

Can I get on the GTS list, I'm in dire need of protection of my Ott flares. I realize it won't be an exact fit, but the inner half and your mounting system will be a great starting point as opposed to trying to do it all from scratch. I'll mod the outer half as needed for the application.

Hi Adam. I was kind of wondering when the "custom flare" guys would chime in. We have heard from the strosek guys, and I expect to hear also from the guys with the early cars with GTS fenders grafted on.

Your fenders look like they are about twice as far out as the GTS when compared to all the early cars. What you need to do is jack it up and then measure the distance from the top of the wheel opening inward to the car body on the inward side of the wheel which is the frame rail part of the car body.

With that measurement I think I can make a fairly simple adjustment in the form for the outer half of these liners and form them so they are quite a bit wider than the GTS versions. Actually I may only be able to get about another inch of width and maybe a tiny bit more. I can however leave extra plastic around the outer edges of the outer halves and then you will have to do the careful trimming to get the outer halves to both reach to the inside of the fender and to be clear of the wheel opening inside. Then you may not be able to do both.

Then, since your car is an early S4 you will need the GT/S4 mounting system which I have not yet fully developed. I am sure that you do not have the GT/GTS mounting points in the top of your wheel wells.

So, I will likely be willing to try to accomodate your need, but I don't think it will be while I am trying to meet the initial GTS need. Send a couple more pictures of different views oy your flares and take the measurement and I will put it in my mental que.
