...I guess that the only concern that I actually have is that I think my design has the top of the liners about a half inch to an inch less tall than the original liners, partly because of the need for the extra space to use my mounting system, but mainly based on my original guestimate of how tall the originals are which I made before I got a set to work with from Tony77, and I had already pretty much finalized that aspect of the forms...

Much grass, Schocki.
Bruce, I think there are a lot of reasons to justify the space above these liners, such as suggested by you, but there still needs to be enough space under them for the normal activation of the suspension. And, I think there is. It is just that, hopefully very rare event, when someone does some kind of Dukes of Hazard over something like a speed bump at 50 mph, that concerns me. I am afraid that it may be like bottoming the suspension and destroying the alternator and AC pump and possibly these liners also.
I haven't had the time nor the inclination now to take the springs and shocks out of one of my cars to see just how much articulation of the rear suspension these liners will withstand.
As to the sound material, I think I have just the right stuff; and Rob, I think, or Jeff, at SF12 made the point to tell me that the sound material I had to show was just that. Based on my research I think so too. I am using a 3/8 inch layer of a compound that is 1/8 inch Mass Loaded Vinyl and 1/4 inch of closed cell foam. This MLV is intended to Block the noise. On top of that, anyone installing these liners, with or without the sound material I am offering, can stuff the void above the liners with any kind of foam or fiberglass, or whatever, that will give , I think, a significant level of additional noise protection.

Hi Jerry - I have been following the thread as the rear WW in my 1993 GTS disintegrated as I changed the burned out rear marker light. Put me on the list for a rear set and thanks for the diligent development work.

As I hope is quite obvious to everyone, my ability to produce these sets of liners is going to be limited totally to my individual ability, mainly from a time standpoint. I have predicted that I may be able to make 4 or maybe 5 sets a week, but that is going to be limited mostly to weekend time, so it will not likely be every week but only two or three weeks a months.
As I get into production I may find that I can become more proficient with these and may be able to do better; but experience, as shown on here pretty often, may be telling us that I am prone to overestimate what I can actually accomplish, at least in terms of time, so it may turn out to be less than 4 or 5 sets a week.
Joe, I think you are #28 on this first list. If everyone ahead of you on this list also shows up on the next list, when I open a new thread to announce these in production, then that means that you might expect to have a set of these liners in about late January or February.
This all assumes that there is not some significant failure in these that I hope to sent out for field testing in the next week or 10 days, probably just after Thanksgiving. I am fabricating them right now, which, at this point, also involves some development of the production processes, so it is slower that I think actual production is going to be.
What I think I am going to do with this business about the lists is to determine when I either have about 5 sets ready to ship or know when I will have those sets, I'll announce that in the new thread and then give about 4 or 5 days for people to send me an email to express their interest. That will be a sort of pre-order list. From that list I will prioritize the names from the first list and then send individual notices for the person to send their money and give two or three days for that to happen. That will be the actual order. Then I will ship. If someone does not make their payment in time they will move down the list some and I'll end up shipping the available sets to what will amount to the first money on the third list. Sending money before that to defeat the priority will not help.
Anyway that is how I think it is going to work in order to honor the support that has been so generously express on this thread about this project and which has done a lot to help keep me going.

For those of us not lucky enough to own a GTS, hope you'll also keep a list of folks who are interested in sets for the S4/S3, etc. I'll be hungry for my set when you finally get to us.

Thanks for your interest, Joe. I have actually gleaned a kind of list from this thread of folks who have expressed such an interest as this, and will be using it to help prioritize the next list that I will be creating which will be the list that will start AFTER I have made the announcement of the availability of these for the GTS cars in a new thread.

For everyone, whether GTS, GT/S4, or OB (defined in the broadest sense) I am pretty sure that being on a list or not is not , in due time, going to make a difference in respect to having some of these liners available for your 928. I still fully expect to be able to have these to fit, in fact, all of the 928s. I advise that you should not spend a lot of time being concerned about any list that I might start out with because after the opening of this project to production I plan to meet everyone's needs. It may just take a bit of time.

When, I can get these for the S4, I will also glue down felt fabric on the wheel facing side to arrest the high frequency hissss and 'ticking' from road debris that the ABS plastic would do nothing to resolve on its own.

FWIW , the consideration you have for wheel travel should also be thought of this way.
Both rear wheels can only move so much with respect to each other.
That means that one wheel wont really go fully into the wheel well without the other side doing the same.
This because they are tied together with the sway bar.
I dont know how much distance you have above the tire at normal ride height,
but it takes a lot of force to move a wheel into the well

Actually, Alan, I opened this thread on 12-17-10 and your post on 12-18-10 is the one in which you expressed an interest in having some of these liners and including your kind offer to contribute money, which was declined. I hope you can calculate that you might in fact be on the top of the first list.
That means that if you respond to the listing of these liners being available, when I do that in the new thread in the next two or three weeks, you will be in the first production liners shipped and likely the first of those, although I think I will at least start out trying to complete five sets at a time, so you will be in the first five to be shipped. That I hope will be well before Xmas.
