COOL! Love that! Nice work! Hell of a lot of wiring went in to that for sure!

I think some place in this thread is the link to the instructions. You might find them on Paul or Hans' web sites too...that is probably where they are hosted. The key is to look up Andrew Olson's sill plate removal instructions so you get that off carefully w/o breaking it.

I emailed Paul in April of 2015 regarding if they could still be purchased and he indicated that they are no longer available.

From what I read in some of the other threads (IIRC), the cost for the fabrication became too large, and (also, IIRC) one of the original fabricators had issues or backed out which complicated matters.

I for one, and I'm sure there are many others, would love to see them back available.

emailed with Paul late last night he and I must share the same affliction of late work. He indicated that a little redevelopment and potential interest would move this up on his list. I am in for a set, would even be beta tester if need be.

There are a few previous write-up using parts easily sourced on eBay:

That's using EL strips, which are prone to failure and the ballast starts buzzing and overheating, which can damage your carpet, other wires, or start a fire. Fiber Optic is the way to go.

The only thing I didn't like is the inconsistency in how light is distributed (look back at the multi-color picture for reference):

Default Kit available

I purchased the illuminated sill kit and never got around to installing it. I would be willing to sell it if one of you really wants it - rather see it on someone else's 928 than collecting dust on a shelf.

Your actual experience or just hearsay? If your experience then I'd guess you pooched the install somehow.

Mine using the EL strips has been operating properly since installed several years ago.

It is possible that there is an LED out there that would match better - the panels accept the standard 5mm (T1-3/4) type LED. You can order a handful of different colors from Mouser, Newark, or Digikey and see what matches your interior the best if you would like. Usually, LEDs only run between $0.35 and $1.50 depending on the light output and color, so it wouldnt be an expensive experiment, just time consuming, and unfortunately for now, I dont have to the time to spearhead that experiment.

If you do find some that match, please share the part number with the rest of us.

Thanks
Hans
For those of us lucky enough to have one of these kits, what is an equivalent LED in case we need a replacement or want to change colors? Mine is all blue, but I want to do the blue to red (light-speed warping ) same as Hessank did on his silver car (I hope you don't mind, Hessank!).

Here is what I come up with at Mouser using the keywords Hans gave above - this is Greek to me and only a few have pictures:

My guess is the "Standard LEDs - Through Hole" (based on the pictures), but even these have varying mcd (millicandella) values.

Thank you, in advance, for any pointers!
