For those planning on using the gels, I was told by eBay that the seller is no longer a member. I think he's been naughty

Looking for another source

There appear to be a number of vendors on Amazon including the one I bought from, but if he's being naughty, you might think twice - but my experience was fine.

I used the search term "lighting gels"

I installed my last week, they look awesome. I may try the candy red translucent paint instead of the gels, once I get some more time. Nice upgrade!

Paul - Do you have standard wiring point recommendations?

Hey Bill, just those discussed at the beginning of this thread. Hans is supposed to give me his wiring instructions, but he is caught up designing the board for our "simple" AC controller. I will remind him.

The one thing to keep in mind is that if you take power from the hatch release switch, your panel will blink while the hatch motor cycles. But it works.

Bill, I just used the hatch release wires. Red to the red on the sill plate light and yellow to the black of the sill plate light. It was SUPER easy!

I saw those, wondering if you had any installation pics? Wondering about the wiring progress.

Here you go. You can see some of the "wrinkles" in the "9" and the lower right corner of the "8". It's not too noticeable, so I think I'll probably live with it until I see something better. It's only noticeable in bright light, otherwise you can't tell.

Off:

On, dim light.

On, completely dark garage.

AO, I like it! I think I will go back and do my drivers door like that and wait to do the passenger door till I have the stuff to do both of them together.

Brian here are is a shot running the wires under the carpet and then you can see the big red connectors connecting the lighted panel in to the hatch wiring.

Default Updated with the Translucent Candy Apple Red Paint

I didn't want to rip out the sill plates again and put some colored film so I finally got around to spraying the 928 clear sill plate with the Testors Translucent Candy Apple Red, wow, it makes them pop even more.

First picture is somewhat washed out by the flash,

this was without the flash

Pictures don't really do it justice.

Glen,

Did you just mask off the area and spray the top??? Might do this instead of pulling the side that is already in...

Jim, yup, masked everything off and sprayed in place. It really makes it stand out and doesn't decrease the light intensity.
