Really not that difficult to mask, there is a slight gap around the numbers, lay wide piece of masking taped right over numbers and use xacto knife to cut out numbers and a little patience.

I would have sprayed it from underneath.

Sounds easy enough... I might try that for the drivers side. Was the color "Candy apple Red" from Testors? I just want to get the correct stuff!

Jim, I used Testor's 1605 Candy Apple Red.

If anyone is using the red illumination kit and hasn't installed it yet, I highly recommend painting the letters from the underside. I didn't feel like removing the sills and removing the illumination kit and starting over.

Results are still impressive.

As a BIG Star Wars fan I can really relate to that "path to the dark side" comment AO! You are quite correct, this could go sideways in a REAL HURRY!!! I'll try and control myself!

Driver's side sill installed. I feel like a kid again. It looks just marvelous with two different colours. Funky. I think I will keep it this way for a while.

Great job Paul & Hans.

Questions: I installed mine using the switched ground wire from the interior lights so it comes on whenever either door or hatch is opened. Problem with this method is that it cannot be turned off so any maintenance requiring any of these doors to be opened for a long period could affect the battery .

What methods did you folks use?

Thanks

Fred, keep in mind that you are talking about 4 LEDs that actually consume next to nothing. The doors would have to remain open for days before the current draw would make a difference.

Ok. You're right and I could still pull the fuse if I had to.
Thanks Paul
