That was good... thanks Ron!
Fairly accurate, although some of his recommendations were harsh (if not somewhat true).

I'm not sure I'm buying the "encourage you to avoid" the 78-79. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they 200 pounds lighter than most? Must understanding is they are interestingly dynamic in their power-to-weight.

Folks, with the automatics: what's your take on his recommendation of the 4 speed vs. 3 speed?

Drivel...

Compare this one to the 928 Buyer's Guide articles of previous years... usually less than 30 words different than the others. The whole thing is merely a reprint of the year before... even with the same illustrations. There is much, much more information on 928's and the options that make certain models/years more desirable than others. I even asked the editor why the information is so superficial and the same as previous years -no good explantation was given.

All in all, it makes one wonder then- just how accurate are the values placed for the different models & years and how the economy has influenced the market? It's essentially only good for the newbie fresh to the market and that's about it. Too bad really...

Nice read, I think I will go out and look for my hydraulic damper on the timing belt.

I think all the early body cars weigh about the same, various options like power vs manual seats, sunroof, make a difference though.

I thought it was very similar to last years write up. I was looking around for last years Excellence just to compare....30 words different huh? I have never found the prices they quote very reflective of any market I have been in. I have owned a number of very different Porsches and have never paid close to their top end prices on even an very nice example of one, nor have I ever sold one for a top end price....I guess I can always hope...... Even low end prices....

Yeah, every year it's like"oh crap I'd better change a few words and get my 928 market update article in", otherwise Excellence is a fine Porsche magazine.......

I love my OB. I can live with the syncros. But I don't drive in cold weather often either.

Anyone seen any '95 GTS 5 speeds going for $34,300?
Must have missed them.

Or less.

Usually, the only changes are in the opening paragraph.

The "market values" appear to be whatever happens to show up in the local autotrader that particular day... very little to reflect the real market.
