Default Chris Harris & GT PORSCHE

In the December GT Porsche mag that actually celebrates '3 decades of the big V8' he headlines his article "ANY 928 IS A CRACKED BLOCK WAITING TO HAPPEN". He goes on to say "the 928's reliabilty issues are now so well documented there are tribes in the Congo who still think the world is flat but understand that any 928 motor is a cracked block waiting to happen"... WTF, have I missed something in the 7 years I have been involved with these cars? I know I am no expert but I have not heard of this being a problem at all.
I'm glad this was a stocking stuffer, would have been pissed if I had paid $ for it.

Is that a misprint? I don't know where that came from.

I looked for his email earlier and couldn't find it. I wanted to ask him what info he had to back up his claim. It is bizarre to me that a Porsche mag would have such an imcompetent article.

Yes I also remember reading that article a couple months back in a train station in London and thought it was insane.

I honestly havent ever heard of a cracked block in 928's. Now the car does have a few well known possible issues, 2/6 rods, TBF, timing belt neglect, but cracking a block IS NOT one of them.

Maybe Mr Harris has not heard of something called Anti-Freeze additive some of us use in the cooling system. Mix 50/50 or 60/40 with distilled water and put into cooling system before allowing 928 exposure to below freezing temperatures.

Just got the magazine. Have not idea where he got the idea of the alloy block cracking on the V8. Wasted a whole page blabbing about how he would like to own a 928 but didn't want to have to deal with a cracked block.

I would like to point out that GTPP had nothing good to say about the 928 until it came in second as ''Greatest Porsche of all time'' in a GTPP reader poll about a year ago. Since then they have been running pro 928 articles, but always with a dig in them somewhere.

Thanks for the link pmotts, the letter is already sent.
