There's a lot of work going on behind the scenes to improve ease of use between ST and SP programs.

Don't forget to buy yourself an ST2 for Xmas before the Nov 30th deadline when there will be a price rise !!

Or get someone else to buy it for you....

KillaV, anymore runs? Are you getting pretty comfortable with the Sharktuner? I may need your help tuning my 86.5' pretty soon!

Can you "feel" if the car is running stronger as the autotune adjusts?

Nah, it really doesn't work that way. What I felt was the turbo kicking me in the a** LOL. Seriously, I took things slow. The whole thing is a gradual process. Back the timing off, get the fuel right, start bringing the timing back. I am to the point now where I am bringing the timing back up slowly. I have no knocks under WOT, but am still fine tuning the ignition timing at partial throttle with heavy loads where the turbo is spooled up providing boost but the WOT swith is not activated. This has proved to be the most difficult area to get right, and is the only area where I am still getting knocks. I am getting about 27 knocks in a 10 second time span. And only in a few areas right around 3000 to 4000 rpm.

And of special intrest to you, your 86 is even more critical to get the timing right, because you have no stock system to retard the ignition timing. A safety margin has to be built in to compensate for 100 degree days and the occasional crappy gas. I have heard of aftermarket systems that can be added to the earlier 32 valves which will retard the timing but have never looked into them.

Louie Ott has an excellent write up on tuning a supercharged early 32 valve that you should search for and read.

Thanks for the info. There is a TON of info to absorb on the subject of Sharktuning! Maybe in a year or so, I'll be able to ask some decent questions.

Default Uh oh.

My wife drove my 928 to work today........she said she only got it to triple digits once!!

She wasn't joking.

She is Jekyll and Hyde; drives like an old lady with me in the car, Mario Andretti when by herself.

You know the bugs are close to getting worked out when the Wife takes it for a spin!!

I hope I didn't just jinx it.......

you can add an adjust able pressure switch in line that will take the maps to WOT based on boost pressure not throttle postion. I go WOT at appx 1-2psi.

I think that cosmo kramer (Ted Russell) has an upcoming group buy for this pressure switch. I have done more tuning and have very few knocks now under all areas of acceleration. When I go to 7psi, I will probably use this switch.

Did I just coin a phrase? Areas of acceleration. That sounds fancy!!

Roger is going to take the car out for a spin. Hopefully he will report back on this thread with his driving impressions.

Default A Girl's Opinion

I had the "privilege" of driving Mike's Turbo to work today.

Usually, when driving a 928 down I-35 around Alliance Airport, I am "challeneged" by BMW here and there on their way to work to Alliance. I was ready for their challenge today, but was disappointed that no one was around at that point.

So I found a very brief stretch of empty highway around this area and lightly stepped on the gas....it went from 70 to 105 VERY QUICKLY. I am pretty sure I didn't even have the throttle half way down to the floor.....scared to ever find out what would happen if someone floored that beast.

Roger just took it out to see what it's like. Glad I'm not in that car.

Yikes!!

He came back. I hope Rog will share his thoughts.

Even though the car is no slouch down low stop light to stop light, the car really shines on the open road. Cruising along at 70, the car is at about 10 inches of vacume, open the gas at all, and the pressure goes positive almost instantly. It accelerates really well, even in 4th gear.

Wow & Wow & Wow again.
Zane and I went for a drive - totally docile at normal speeds.
One blip of the throttle and she screams.
Pulls in 2nd and 3rd harder than my GTS. Very controllable, nothing wild but shear power when you need it.
No lag at all and that “whoosh” when you let of the gas is addictive.

Very neat install and apart from one pipe under the hood you would not know it was there.
Nice job Mike and the guys who made it need a pat on the head.
Roger

Thanks Rog for the kind words. And my hat's off to the P-9 guys. Hopefully my feed back will make the next kit even easier to install.

Tom,

I'm trying to talk Rog into it, but he keeps mentioning something about weak connecting rods.......
