Default Passanger window is stuck in down position

Help! Passanger window is stuck in the down position for a Texas driver in the middle of August. It is 100 degrees outside. The window being down makes the car almost undrivable. The car has always has a "weak" return for coming up with the electric control. This time, it appears down for good. Please, someone tell me that Porsche made a contingency plan for this and made a manual crank up for the emergent situation when the switch was dead?
Is this typically a motor actuator problem, as in a motor, or loose wiring or a swith problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sorry, there is no provision to operate the windows manually...oddly enough, there is for the sunroof.

It could be the switch, wiring or motor. Sounds like the motor based on your description of it being slow to raise that window.

On the outside chance that it is the switch, if you can remove the carpeted panels on the sides of the console and locate the wiring bundles to the switches and swap the window switches, you may get that window up. You can identify the sheathed wire bundles for each switch by pushing the switches out of the console from underneath and tracing from there along the side of the console to the plugs under the dash. The leads are a foot or two long.

If it's the motor, it's a bit of work to get the door panel off and the motor out.

Or you can open the switch and make the contacts with two small screwdrivers, or make a wire jumper to touch the two contacts together. Be careful with the ball-bearings inside the switch. Very easy to lose. Worked for me until I was able to get fresh switches. I bought a used motor and found out I didn't need it.

Its not that difficult to repair or replace the motor. Just done it. The door cover comes off quite easily and the motor can most likely be repaired.

But check the switch first, as mentioned, by flipping the top off, taking care of the bearings and shorting out. The connections corrode and make for slow windows, finally no windows. It worked for me, but my motor was so worn it had to be replaced anyway - sounded like it was full of gravel.

There are plenty of rennlist posts about removing the door card and repairing the motors. Here is my collection:

Default window stuck in down position, thanks everyone

I had a local 928 owner suggest a rather heavy hand as far as pressure to the switch. I used the end of a handle of a two pound hammer and up she went. Obviously, the switch is not funtioning properly. Thanks to all who responded, the breath and depth of the information was great. Now, I can make plans to get the switch properly fixed. Thanks to all!

I should have mentioned that too. Tony Harkin wrote up how to grind off a bit of the plastic inside the switch to allow a worn switch to work without as much effort.

Best to just replace the switch, but Tony's fix should help.
