Default Window troubles

I've searched the forum for hours now, and I can't find an answer to this problem. It's 1 am, and I'm tired. Forgive me for asking if the subject's come up already, but I need a fix. Please.

Passenger window is in the up position. Switch and motor are in good, working condition. Removed the access panel above the armrest, saw the window is being propped up by a block of wood. There is a channel that is supposed to be riveted onto a part at the base of the window, and those rivets have broken off, all 4 of them. Found the channel in the armrest, nicely wrapped in a plastic bag.

Do I need to order a complete window assembly with the channel attached at the base, or can that channel be safely welded back on after removing the whole window assembly?

Thanks....

Not a situation that happens very often. Just replace the arm assembly. I have a few sitting around collecting dust. Let me know the MY and I will check for you. You pay shipping 8>)

Hey, Roger.

Thanks for the offer. Isn't that arm assembly permanenty attached to the window base?

If you have a pic of the part you're talking about, I'd be interested to see if we're on the same page. Mine's an '80.

Just get another used door window glass, the channel will come already attached. Removing the glass and motor are detailed in the WSM.

You may need another motor arm roller kit to replace what's there. The plastic roller tends to wear out in time. Search the threads on how to do this.

That's what I was hoping to avoid. Seemed like Roger had a solution, as I was hoping to find a way to not have to get another window glass.

Back to square one.
