I added programming that changes the WOT fueling ± based on the CO adjustment. If you reset the CO to 382, it may improve your full throttle power. (Best to check the CO adjustment at idle with a WBO2.)

The MAF CO plug is really in there. The WSM extraction method is to drill a small hole in the center of the plug, then screw in a small sheet metal screw. Do not replace the plug. (I put a small piece of masking tape over the hole after adjustment.)
Thanks for the tip... my WSM is in pdf form and takes me days to find anything.

Adjusted the MAF to 382 and tested with the Blink'r... The yellow LED did not go off when testing for WOT. I suspect bad TPS. In fact I suspected all along, but chose to be in denial. will test to confirm tonight.

However... just by adjusting the MAF and turning the idle down, performance through the 4000 - 6000 rpm range has improved. It pulled right through instead of flattening out.

It pulls surprisingly strongly in 'lean mode', but when you hit the WOT switch (if it's working) above 2500 rpm, it gets mean. The exhaust note changes, and you should feel it claw a bit harder.

Ken - on a wide band 02 where should the A/F be with a new MAF? I need to adjust my new one as with the new injectors, its idling at 12.5 and at 5700rpm in WOT its at 10.9

B - could be anywhere in my experience. You should adjust for mid-14s.

Rebuilt MAFs may read a little richer depending on how the rebuilder calibrated them. (As the wire gets thinner over the years from many many burn-off cycles it will read leaner.)

Recent Inj. Labs MAFs have been quite rich. You'll probably need to adjust the MAF CO pot CCW 3-4 turns. This won't change WOT with the stock chips, though. (I have programmed mine to change the WOT fueling ± with the CO.)

V3.3 is the standard for the foreseeable future. I've even gone so far as to remove the testing equipment from both cars...

...so I can put it all in my new (to me) '86.5 race car (sunroof removed, 5-speed w/LSD, full cage, fully stripped interior, etc., etc.). It's black, so you know it's going to be fast - surely faster than Tom. M's racecar. As you can see from the pics, it still needs some PKization to make it even lighter weight.

I might come up with a real 'racing' chip for 5-speeds over the next few months. Maybe a higher fuel pressure (AFPR) version or a 'race mode' of a flat 13ish AFR instead of 'lean mode' or...? Probably will think of some other new 'race' PK parts too.

That is awesome Ken!! I take it that it is still streetable race car? Paint it red and then it surely will be faster...

I just got back from taking a hot lap around the country side in Ken's blue 5 speed (140k miles)! Holy s***! That car is fast! What ever he is charging for his tune, it is worth it. The acceleration is comparable to a E46 M3. Thanks for the drive Ken and good luck with the race car.

Shane - streetable. I hope to come up and visit soon.

Karsten - It came with a racing seat, so I won't need an Orangenkiste, but thanks for the offer!

Tony - I hope the race car will make the blue car (arguably 'the most powerful stockish S3') seem slow.

Consistency...

'85 5-speed w/Y-pipe into '84 single catback versus '86.5 5-speed w/X-pipe into stock '86.5 dual catback. (Both w/modified stock rear mufflers.) Approx. the same mileage.

TorqueRings didn't change the peaks unfortunately, but low rpm torque is awesome. You can feel the 252 ftlbs at 1700 rpm! Part throttle is where the rings make a big difference in how it drives.

Fueling is, FAIAP, perfect, everywhere, with the rings, and I haven't been able to sneak anymore advance in w/o knocks, so I've hung up my tuning hat, and have truly called it a day with V3.5.

Using SAE correction, it apears that ~305 RW TQ/HP is the max a tuned 5-speed S3 can put down w/o headers, or cams, or...

Ken, pretty sure I've asked before, but hat is the turn around on a set of your chips? I've got a long weekend and I may just send my current set of your chips in for the most recent update.

Just head over to his website and order the chip upgrade which includes the torque rings and he will send you out new chips with an envelope to send the old chips back in. So there is no downtime.

Darnit, Ken! Now you have made anybody who races a 928 in a hp to wieght class have to add ballast to their car! Impressive numbers from a 25 year car!

Unless he changed something I'm pretty sure us owners who bought a car with his chips already installed needed to send the chips first. Since I didn't buy them originally.
