I guess thats a possibility. But I was also planning on the rear area for the gear oil pump, cooler, and PS pump and reservoir. So I am trying to to go as deep as possible on the fuel cell.

Yes, and thanks Rick for those measurements you gave me last year. I had Ross Machine make these, as I think I mentioned when we spoke. It should be fun to see how I will be attaching them. Luckily there is a ton of metal at the bottom between the injector holes. I still have to have them nickel plated.

Just to be clear again, I had nothing to do with my fuel rails other than being the recipient. I do have input and ideas but I need a lot of help and do very little of the actual work myself. Unlike you and many others.

Its was great to get center to center hole spacing though. You probably saved me an entire weekend of measuring and remeasuring.

I am not sure what requirements you have for the other items, but I know with the cell I have, there is adequate room on either side for the pumps. Are the all going to be electric in your case or are you going to drive them from an axle, etc.?

All electric, including the PS pump. The axle drive is always interesting though.

Interesting on the PS pump. I presume you are doing it to move weight to the rear, but won't the lines required to run to the rack offset much of that savings?

probably will Stan, but it removes the hp drag of pulleys on the engine----

I understand that, but you may require a higher output alternator to run it, right? Plus the potential problems of an electrical issue resulting in PS loss. I understand that it has value, but isn't the value very slight in comparison to the potential problems and costs? Just curious.

oh, I was just taking a stab at it----he'll have to tell you what he's really up to, but if I was doing it it would be to get rid of as much hp/pulley drag---it's usually about 10 hp per pulley (so my drag racer buddies say...)

so, that being said, figure the fan clutch, p/s pump, air pump, a/c compressor, and then a bigger pulley on the alternator to slow it down, and your talking maybe close to 50 hp gain?

just a thought-

Maybe. But wouldn't it be cool? What I am trying to do as a whole is not only reduce weight, but relocate it to off the front. Making, hopefully, the car much more apt to turn in quickly. Its an organic sort of design parameter, as I did not think to roll the fenders - I am trying to not "add weight" on the front so I have to run huge width tires - making the car feel heavy. Ah, who knows.

All true. Its just seemed like a cool idea.

Yes, but fan clutch, air pump and a/c compressor can be removed without dealing with the hassle of moving the PS pump to the rear. So really the PS move is only for that 10hp gain, and perhaps that is worth it....

It is a cool idea. I was just wondering if there was something I didn't understand I am always looking to learn!

there are other ideas of modifying stuff like that as well----sort of like what the rod and custom guys get into....

just think....nothing else in the engine compartment, just the engine itself.

how cool is that...?
