Bill,
Looking at the radar results it seems they caught you at 165 at the finish line!
Here is a 20 shot sequence I put in an animated gif of your 161 mph speed trap run:

what is the mode of failure for Konis? does the internal valving fail or does it have to leak out.
Im very concerned that i have a bad shock or two. When the car is on the rack, the rear wheel can be pushed up by hand until the spring starts to compress. the otherside has more hydrolic resistance from the start. can there be a dead zone before the oil starts to be forced through the valving?
anyway, none of the devek level II shocks are leaking, but im worried that after near 10 years, that they may be toast. i think the spring hides much of the shock action, by just boucing up and down on the car.expecially if one side is still good, or if the rebound is still working.
any static tests to prove a shock is bad while the shocks are on the car?
(sorry to hijack. I may have to start a new thread regarding this.)

OK, I'll post in that thread, because I have some things to say about Konis and speed. Hurry and start it, please.
Jorj, I also feel your pain, having left pieces of engine and case all over the freeway outside of Albuquerque once and also having left a broken crank all over the road a few years prior to that.

No issues. That is my point. I got some Konis from Devek about 40,000 miles ago and installed them and they work well. Not as stiff as I might like, but they have been through a few "spirited" corners at speed in Nevada and I have yet to experience what Bill describes. If I had it to do over, I would have set them a slight bit harder, maybe 1/2 a turn more. I don't know how much longer mine will last. I would put Konis on again.
