I would be a bit worried about that setup. When the factory used that spot for an oil drain back line, it extended into the pan below the oil level. This was to keep oil from raising back up the tube.

Not to mention that fitting is a bit small. Good idea (it's what I'm doing on my car except it's a factory setup on the 81).

You might have better luck using the drain tube from an OB vs, that NPT fitting. Not only will it flow more, oil cannot work it's way back up the tube.

OK.....I'm testing my memory here too.. But I believe that my top pulley is 70mm but this is on an Autorotor 424 not an Eaton. I am only seeing 7 pounds of boost and this may be because of my x pipe and free flowing exhaust. I initially thought that I would be at 8 PSI. I believe that I could safely go up one more PSI. I have 30 pound injectors and plenty of fuel pressure left to play with.

What are your thoughts experiences

As for the Shark Tuner...I can't wait for John to finish up his testing for the 85 MY cars.

It's a thought, but you'd need some housings like DR used for the filters and 2 into 1 plumbing. Doesn't seem too feasable. If I just had fiberglass fabrication skills I would make a single housing for a large filter (K&N, AEM) that had inlets to fit the shroud openings.

Bill,

What I had in mind was to have the 90 degree elbows in front of the radiator and the filter attached on each side hanging between the radiator and the front bumper). Do some pipe bending/welding in the engine comparment and connect that via a reducer to the MAF. No need to have the air filter housing.

I had a hole cut and ran a 90 degree elbow into the front of the wheel well. It should get cold air flow thru the headlight bucket.

I copied this idea from somebody--I can't remember who--but they posted more photos a while back. Seems to work well.

I had that setup done with hoses. Even with nicer hardware, it would be a Rube Goldberg contraption.

The SharkTuner for LH2.2 used on US 32v 85/86 is released and ready as an upgrade to the basic SharkTuner.

DR used it to tune Shaun's twinscrew, Louie Ott has also evaluated it.

John:

Great to hear.....I'll have to contact them and see if either unit is for rent. Thats about the last thing left for me to do. Even if I were to make a little smoother intake track using fiberglass I don't think it would have much effect considering everything on the upside of the MAF is oversized.

Regards,

Ken

Think one of those would bolt up to a 944?

Ken,

Can you post a pic of where you re-positioned the elec harness and coil??

Definitely something I'm wanting to do

As for the smaller pulley, I got mine from DR. Not sure about the size, but I'm getting 10psi

What is the largest pulley you put on an Eaton before it interferes with the hood?
Thanks, Ralph

Ralph: That is influenced by the manifold gasket material and the state or your motor mounts. My 5 PSI pulley made a nice divot in the hood liner but no firm contact with the hood. Andy said my engine as one of the highest. Anyway, I have a 70mm pulley. The 4 PSI pulley is 73mm. Here's a chart:

Good info Bill. What is the max rpm speed of the eaton? I've read both 14,000 and 16,000 rpm, does anyone know for sure?

Ralph, sounds like a hood scoop is in order, huh!
