It's got sealed bearings - no external oil. Mine is still making zero noise.

I just went back to page 60 and started reading....

This thread has gotten so long, we (er, I) have forgotten what's already been discussed. A few pages into the reading, I ran into pulley, belt and other issues covered - questions I just re-asked a few days ago.

Rick:

Let us know about the aluminum adapters. We might have several interested parties that could get a decent volume going for reduced cost per.

Strange you should metion this, because I too noticed a coating of oil inside the manifold. It was also in the the intake adapter at the rear of the SC unit. I am puzzled by this too. It does not appear to be coming from the air filter (K&N oil) because the track is clean further up. So, somehow it is blowing back from the heads through the SC or the SC bypass. Or what else? Bizarre. Makes no sense to me. Anyone else?

I don't know the source of the rubber injector boot that Andy used. Nice to know thery are not tolerating fuel too well. Mine still look OK, but we do need a source or an alternative. Mike S?

I *think* they came from mcmaster carr. Somehow, Andy figured out all these crazy seals and parts for other uses that work perfectly for what he was trying to do. Unfortunately, as stated above, they don't seem to be rated for fuel/oil. I noticed that mine were a little hard after replacing them around 10K miles, but they weren't the source of any leaks. I might have one of the original bags that these things came in.... but it'll take me a while to find it (stored away in a box from a move I did last year)

I'm going to try poking around a little on the site... i'll let you guys know if i come up with anything.

Ok guys, goto mcmaster.com and in the search box, type in "PVC Sealing Grommets for Pipe and Tube". Does that image on the top-right look about right? I don't recall of our seals had that little lip inside or not.

Yep. They are the "plug" style as opposed to the "lip" style.

Says they are OK for oil-based liquids...but the temp spec (190F) bothers me more. That's probably why it is hardening.

sweet!

If someone wants to take some accurate measurements, we can figure out which ones we need. They seem relatively inexpensive. Might be good to replace these every once in a while. Not too hard to do.

Since it states its to inhibit leaking of oil-based liquids, the temp only to 190F may explain failure. But the other boots were not as bad as the one soaked with gasoline; maybe its a chicken or the egg.

McMaster has high-temp silicone grommets that may work better. That are a different design, like the classic grommet donuts, but they might work better, if we can determine the correct size.

I think the aluminum with an o-ring will work better.
