Darien:

I can see evidence of Tony's handiwork all over your install. The fresh cam covers finishes it off nicely!

Thanks Bill...are you going with the "cold air" set-up?

I've looked over the various options. I'm still a little reluctant to move the jump post and coil and cut that hole, but I do have the piping and boots to do it.

Ralph: It appears to me I need 70-80 mm studs (M8x 1.25, double thread). Yours were probably longer due to your thicker base. I shouldn't have to trim them.

Also, I plan on stock torque (11 ftlbs). That's another reason the green "linoleum" probably failed to seal. I really don't want to put any more torque on these small studs.

OK, all better. Jim Morton helped me cut some spacers on his lathe. I used 1/2" OD steel pipe. Fit perfectly. Ralph's 1/8" thickness spec was just right. The stock intake gasket is a little over 0.18 inch, so 0.12 inch provided 1/3rd gasket compression. I torqued the intake to the stock 11 ft-lbs but went around several times before it stayed at 11. Car idles properly now. Will finish up the heat exchanger (motorcycle radiator) install and do some street tuning tomorrow.

Bill
That's good news.
I should be getting my new crank pulley next week. It will be 6" dia. and my s/c pulley is three inches. This should give me about 6 psi boost at our altitude which I think will be a LOT more fun than the 2 psi I am getting now. Other than that I am really pleased with the way my car is running. Virtually no change in driveability except it is a bit faster.
This winter I am going to start working on a cold air intake so please keep me posted on your progress. I will do the same.
Hi, my name is Ralph and I am an S/Cic.

Bill,
I cut a 4" round hole in my inner fender without relocating the coil, I can't remember if I moved the jump post. I will send you some pics when I get home, I need to modify my intake tube anyways.

Later,
Woody

Bill, I too wasn't crazy about the idea, but after some thought, we chose to go with the 4" oblong hole and didn't have to relocate the coil

Bill,
I cut a 4" round hole in front of the ground post and above the coil. I had to take out the fender screw, but will put it back once I cut it a little shorter. The pipe is a 4" aluminum albow with a dent over the distributer cap so the plug wire doesn't rub. I built a shield in front of the filter so rain coming in around the headlight doesn't get it wet.
Hope this helps.

Woody

Woody: That is sweet. I started to mount my IC system heat exchanger (motorcycle radiator) there, but I could move that to the other side.

Could you show a little more of your SC belt and tensioner? It seems the belt is spread apart a lot more than mine. Was it not yet tensioned? Mine is almost touching.

Bill,
The SC belt was not designed to be that way. When I went to the 11psi pulley the belt I ordered was a tad small. I had to run it outside the tensioner instead of inside. This is just temporary until I get a longer belt, but it hasn't slipped on me yet.
Good luck.

Tony / Darien
What is that material that you are using for the front intercooler plumbing?
What material are you using for the the crank case venting?

Do you have brand and number for that air filter?
