Bill,
The spacers I used for the stock gasket were 1/8" thick. They seem to be working fine.

Thanks, Ralph. I'll file that away. I decided to go with the original Andy "linoleum" for now. I installed 1" high spacer tubes inside the manifold around each mouting bolt as well as additional interior spacer posts to keep the bottom flat. I think that should cure the idle weirdness I had previously from bottom plate warpage. Almost buttoned up. [LATE EDIT: I took Ralph's suggestion and cut some 1/8th inch spacers and used the stock gasket after using the kit's hard gasket lead to problems (see below). Worked perfect.]

Argh! Got it all together, started up OK but idles very high and somewhat rough. I have a BIG air leak somewhere. The idle is not affected by unplugging the ISV. In gear it chugs at idle and pulls against the transmission. I can't see anything wrong externally. The bypass valve is operating as it should. No obvious leaks anywhere and everything is tight. Has good idle vacuum (over 16") and generates 6 PSI boost and seems to run well on throttle, but the idle is a dead giveaway that there is a big leak. Off she comes!

Disconnect the battery?

Uh, I thought about that, but I don't believe you should have to do that to get the idle to adapt. Disconnecting the ISV didn't bring the idle down - any car with good intake seal should die. I think it's more likely the re-use of Andy's green linoleum gasket material was a bad idea. I didn't even put any goop on it. One of the intake seals around an IC hose fitting was a bit loose too. I'm going to change the gasket to a stock rubber one with 1/8th inch spacers, like Ralph did. Anyway, it's off already. Out of town tomorrow. Should be back in order by Wednesday.

Oh, and you know why I didn't pull the battery - I hate redoing all my radio presets! Eh, I could have run the Spanner idle adaptation, but I was pretty sure it was hopeless.

Thanks for thinking of that. If it proves to be what I needed to do, I'll be eating crow again.

Bill,
I don't know if you are using bolts or studs. With the spacers studs are the way to go. I bought stock ones from Graingers and shortened them so they were long enough yet wouldn't bottom out.

I have extra 60mm crank pulley bolts. I couldn't find a place that would sell less than 5. They cost me $35.09 for all 5 including shipping; I will sell them for 7 bucks each plus shipping. The specs are M18 x 1.5 x 60 DIN 960 10.9

Pressurize the intake. You'll find your leak right away and eliminate the guesswork.

It is about 1/2" longer. Andy supplied it with some of his kits but not mine and my bolt backed out.

Here's a few pics illustrating the loop that Tony made on the forward IC outlet.

15mm to be exact. Stock is 45mm. Good find, Rick.
