The chemicals used do break the surface tension (according to the advertising) but at the same time lowers the actual boiling point I have wondered if it is just alcohol but really do not know. Also worth noting that water cools better than antifreeze so use just enough to protect you for the cold in your area plus enough corrosion resistance.

I've never looked into water wetter, and can't say it does much. I never heard of it until I bought a 928 and saw it mentioned as a commonly used additive. I go along with Jim that there is not much point in glycol mixtures above 25% in this part of the country, and that water cools better than glycol.

Ok, I think I understand. But wouldn't it make more sense to design a product that would RAISE the boiling point? So that way the water get's hotter before boiling? Or am I all back-assward here?

protect you for the cold in your area
Hellooooooooo - I'm in Napa, not Winconsin.

(sorry Jim, couldn't help it)

Thank's - I think I do get it now, and you DO want it to boil in order to draw more heat out of the block and metal parts (an overly simplified description). So I was all screwed up - thank's ya all for straightening me out. So after we put this in my car I can drive harder and faster

Actually no, you don't want it to boil. Lots of bad stuff can happen, like pressure surges that can expand your radiator tubes. Most of the resistance to boiling is acheived by maintaining system pressure. After that, you can raise the boiling point marginally with the use of various additives(such as antifreeze).

Beth,

Looks like I should be able to make it Saturday. I'll probably bring a couple of kids along
(16 and 13) if that's ok.

Hey, just remembered something. Last night I ran across the brand new rear hatch seal I bought a couple of months ago. While some of us are working on the front end, think any of you would be interested in working on the back end???

Maybe we should re-shoot the paint while were at it.
