Now if somebody could get all the Texas Third Coast and surrounding area 928ers going, that would be huge!

I just happened to be at the Texas - Dallas monthly breakfast earlier this month, and several of those Third Coast folks are coming.

I think ts a great idea for a drive, what would the expected temps be in July out there?

Thank you,

If my building projects are even reasonably under control, I will be joining in the mayhem.

It is 1,141 miles (17:20) from my home near the Mackinaw Bridge to Mt Rushmore... I'm probably going to leave at around 4:00 am and drive straight through. But if your group is doing the UP route, I'm game to join in! About a gazillion cool roads to take and of course it is always more fun with a bunch of cars rolling along at warp speed (until those pesky guys with badges and radar guns show up).

Anyhow, keep me posted on who, when and where this caper leads...

Enjoy!

I have limited vaca time, and I plan on two car events in short order..so I'll probly ship my car to Denver, fly there for like $30, and drive up from there 8hrs...and then ship the car from there to Ohio to Hans before a car show in Toronto.

For those folks that have a 4th grader at home you can get a pass for free for the parks.

I just saw this and wanted to share. If you have a 4th grader you can get into the parks for free.

For us older folks

Seniors (age 62+) qualify for either the $20 Annual Senior Pass or the $80 Lifetime Senior Pass.

I'm thinking of having a rest stop in Denver for people coming from the south before the final push to Rapid City which is just over 6 hours or 4 in a 928. Maybe a fun drive in the mountains on the way up?!

I could coordinate that...but not a lot of interest in a high speed run.

Just woke up one day, and wasn't in a BIG hurry on long drives anymore.

This sounds like a great event. IF you've never been to that area, there is just so much to see (and do). GO - you'll not regret it, and it is a nice drive in a 928 (I drove an '88 from Portland OR home to southeast PA about 12 years ago and spent 3 days in and around this area on the trip.

For those coming from the east, there is a great Lakota Sioux Indian Museum in Chamberlain SD (right at the Missouri river on I-90). And of course the 'badlands' themselves, then Sturgis and Wall Drug! Those from the west, don't miss Devil's Tower in WY (think Close Encounters). From the south, a brief stop at Wounded Knee SD will always be memorable (site of native American massacre, and a look at how native Americans have been 'cared for' by the US government).

The suggestion for a 'floating 928 Rendezvous is great. In the era between about 2002 and 2010, the 928 Owners Club had 4-5 'international' gatherings. It seems to me it is time to resurrect that concept, as there are a lot of NEW 928 owners since that era, along with quite a few stalwarts that are still around and appreciate the great car that Porsche designed/produced for the first time from a clean sheet of paper Organizer(s) should be able to get some support from the 928 OC.

Gary--

Well, the in-laws have scheduled the annual vacation over the week of this trip, so I have to bow out.

Crap-ola.
