After much discussion and looking at events in the future, this will be a 1 year event. So if you want to come see Mt Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Crazy Horse Monument, the Badlands, Deadwood, Sturgis, and other places make your plans to attend this one year event.

We have Roger Tyson and crew, Hans, Sean Ratts, Jim and Sue Corenman, Steve (911 User), Possibly Dave from Michigan, Luc from Canada, and Scott and Jack from ATL all planning on being here. So come see the midwest, see some historical sites, and have fun with your 928 Community. Also for the folks driving across the state from Sioux Falls to Rapid City the Black Hills Corvette Classic will be driving I90 as well. So be prepared to dust off some old vettes and have fun along the way.

It is only 7 months away so plan your trip, order your parts, and get them 928's ready for a fun adventure.

I look forward to seeing everyone here.

Harvey

staying longer
We have several options. A ride to Devils Tower is about 1.5 hours each way.

Mt Rushmore is about 45 minutes away, and Crazy Horse monument is another 20 minutes. Deadwood Is about 45 minutes from the hotel as well.

Some folks are wanting to take a bus to Deadwood, and the driver I know has a route that includes 3 breweries before hitting Deadwood.

Would the people interested in coming to the event let me know if you want to extend the dates, or just let the folks staying longer deal with it.

Would you rather do the fun run to Devils Tower, or Mt Rushmore and thru needles highway?
Harvey,

Sounds like this event plan is coming along nicely!

Regarding the fun run (or runs). You are far better qualified to plan those events because of your knowledge of the area, roads and distances apart. I of course want to see all of the highlights of the area, and if I am able to attend, I will extend! (I really want to spend some time in Sturgis because the son of the original owner of Steves U-Boat, (the XX8 GT) lives there.)

The tricky part is when the fun runs should be scheduled? Many of us will have long drives to get there and will need some time to play before jumping in our cars and hitting the road again. Therefore, I'd plan the day after arrival as wash down, social, and perhaps a short tech session to deal with any cars that have developed solvable issues. Since so much of the 928 culture is "the People" we want to have a bunch of casual time together so we can see old friends and make new ones! But... there is nothing like being part of a long string of 928's blasting through twisty country roads... Second day bliss???

From what I remember, the roads are rather spectacular up there and we want to see the sights as well, so a well thought out route or routes will be well received by all of us. You know the turf and we are ready, willing and able to follow along - - - at speed when appropriate!

Thanks for all of your efforts!

Dave

Dave,

Thanks for your words of wisdom. I know a few others that are going to extend the trip to see more of the area. Sturgis is only 30 minutes down the road.

As for taking time to unwind before doing the fun run, I have arranged for a bus to take those folks that want have some fun (3 breweries tours and then time in Deadwood for gambling and back to the hotel. Drinking on the bus is allowed and encouraged for those that want to unwind). As you mentioned when this would occur? I am thinking Friday night as that is our normal get together, meet, have a few drinks and talk up a storm. We can do all that on the bus and not worry about drinking and driving This way we can do the wash / tech sessions Saturday morning, and then take a ride thru the area. And perhaps a second fun run Sunday morning before some people head out.

I for one am looking forward to meeting new friends and 928 enthusiasts. As well as old friends. I even talked our favorite English expert (Roger) into coming. Glad to see he wants to see some of our historical sites.

Yes the roads are spectacular, and meant for our cars to enjoy. Great scenery and places to enjoy nature.

Harvey,

Sounds great! Love the bus Idea to Deadwood with brewery stops! What a hoot!

Getting unusual pushback from my wife who even though she is a car fun lover, understands that we have two major construction projects that should be near completion at that time... Major time crunch!!!

Ahhhh! I love first world problems.

Should this event be classified as "The Badlands 928 2020 Rendezvous" or "Badlands Rendezvous" and have a coin like the Atlanta event?

Although "Sharks in the Badlands" has a certain ring to it...

I do believe we should start the Rendezvous 928 with different destinations each year. Atlanta was the first year, Rapid City the second, next year maybe wherever they have the early car reunion?

I am hearing a lot more people are going to make this journey, and it should be a fun one.

Come one, come all to the Midwest for a fun Porsche 928 rally. See the sights, get pictures of your car with Mt Rushmore in the background, take a walk around Devils Tower, see and drive thru the badlands. And meet fellow 928 owners and discuss our cars.
