I have had several more folks chime in and it looks like the weekend of July 17-19 will be it. I am working on a place and pricing and will get back to everyone soon.

Thanks,

Harvey

That would be a serious run, but I'd give it a go from Maryland.

Okay folks here is the update.

This will be July 17-19 2020. Hotel will be in Rapid City (long story but most hotels in Deadwood and surrounding areas do not have the rooms we need for the dates). I am waiting on an email from the Hotel to sign, and then will post those details. Rapid City is an hour drive to Deadwood, and about 35 minutes to Mt Rushmore.

Fun Run - I have been given a few maps by various groups and will have that info later on.

Friday or Saturday evening - trip to Deadwood / Sturgis on a party bus (we will leave the cars at the hotel and just have fun and unwind) Drink , Gamble, see historical places, and just enjoy our group.

For those that do not know I am the President of the Town of Cottonwood SD population 9 yes that is correct 9. look up Google maps of Cottonwood, no business, no stores, just a few houses. Ghost town by most standards. it is just 9 miles north of Highway I 90. I am an hour away from Rapid City (east). I will be at the hotel during the event. You are more than welcome to drive through Cottonwood and see a very small town.

This is going to be one fun 1st Sharks in the Badlands adventure.

Hotel information - Cambria Hotel Sharks in the Badlands special rate July 17-19th 2020 $129.00 plus 9% tax and $2.00 occupancy tax for a King Suite $139.00 for 2 queen bed Suite plus 9% tax and $2.00 occupancy tax

The normal rate was $180.00 a night so they gave us a great deal for this being peak tourist season. They have an area we can wash the cars at, meeting room, indoor pool.

Rooms need to be confirmed by June 17th 2020 to get our rate.

They will have this in their system by the end of the day today.

I’ve been to the Black Hills Corvette Classic before and it’s fabulous that area.

looks like the Corvette week is overlapping, which isn’t a bad thing

I have been getting questions about extending the dates. A few folks are coming this way and want another day or two to explore the area.
staying longer
We have several options. A ride to Devils Tower is about 1.5 hours each way.

Mt Rushmore is about 45 minutes away, and Crazy Horse monument is another 20 minutes. Deadwood Is about 45 minutes from the hotel as well.

Some folks are wanting to take a bus to Deadwood, and the driver I know has a route that includes 3 breweries before hitting Deadwood.

Would the people interested in coming to the event let me know if you want to extend the dates, or just let the folks staying longer deal with it.

Would you rather do the fun run to Devils Tower, or Mt Rushmore and thru needles highway?

Hm. It would be a 1,600 mile, 24 hour drive so two 12 hour runs or 3 8 hour runs. Each way.

Anyone else coming from the East Coast? I might want to replace my timing belt before going out there....

Ug. It is so time to replace my timing belt (last 10k miles here), do I want to do it in the spring, or just run with a well loved belt?

Hm....

I'll be coming from Baltimore, so maybe we could meet up somewhere along the way. I'd probably do 70 to 74 to 80 to 90 or something like that, how far would you get on the first day?
