Toying with the idea of removing wheel well liners & venting out like this.

Mounted what should be the final version of the DARN headlamp. Now I just need to man up and make some covers. I'm scared.

Ok, new camera but still posting huge pics... whats the deal?

Man i burnt my retnas out. Had a super delicate weld job to attach locating tab on my high end GERMAN O-SRAM bulb. Replaced the Indian bulbs in the Hella ECE conversion. Can't wait to see if they are better.

Talking

In matters of the exhaust. The Dansk is about 1/8" larger diameter than the factory pipe. It also didn't have a pre-muffler (like my '88 came with form factory) and the muffler is an inline design. The muffler is also smaller in diameter. I measured the original cat triangle flange inside pipe dimensions to what the dansk was. Dasnk was 1/8" larger. I had previously adjusted 2 out of 3 holes in the dansk flange & was able to re-use the porsche exhaust "donut" that mounts inbetween the 2 flanges.

Well it was a crappy set up & now I have a new design. I cut off the Dansk triangle flange & welded up the 3 to 2.5" adapter. Then welded about 30" of 3" pipe. I am quite pleased & should see some higher rpm love.

Found the stainless welded to non-stainless really easy with the mig.

Talking with neighbour about blowing gaskets & he suggested I do a compression test. So I just performed one on "dry" cylinders. Results: 150psi for #1,4 cyls & 160psi for #2,4cyls. Then he asked about positive crank case check valve/filter. We don't have one do we?

I don't believe so. I think the AOS performs that function on the 944 engine.

correct. there's no PCV check valve or filter...just the AOS, which is a big empty can.

FINALLY. It broke my heart to have oil caked on my expensive headers & it was located in such a way that you would have to remove the exhaust completely to scrub inbetween the tubes. So Sunday I removed them from Wilson, Monday degreased & glass bead blasted. Even naked they are so pretty...

Satisfied. Feeling relieved & not stressed. Actually enjoying working on my car again. Here we see about 40 inches of 3" tube painted with ceramic infused exhaust paint. I wiped all the old oil off the exhaust.

New cam gaskets are on their way. Doing things differently this time.

I'll be interested to hear how you like the sound of that exhaust. I know when I had a test pipe on my S and an aftermarket muffler it sounded like absolute ***. Nothing but loud, raspy fartcan sounds, it was just plain embarrassing to drive. I now have a mostly stock exhaust again, but the tremendous weight of the factory exhaust system always has me wanting to get rid of it.

Hopefully yours sounds nice, it is a different muffler and I did not have a Stahl header either, so maybe you will have better luck than I did. You may find that you need to install a resonator where the catalytic converter once was.

Waiting for my cam housing gaskets. Same VR paper ones. The company who supplies the rubber ones hasn't responded to my small order placed 2.5 weeks ago.

The new plan: 2 thin Victor Reinz gaskets sprayed with "Hi-tack" gasket adhesive on both sides (the red, really tough to remove aerosol prep spray). Torqued to spec with loc-tite. Basically LAMINATING those sons of beotches in there.
