Forgive me if I stated this already, but in about a week I'll be leaving for a long day or driving in the dark, so the headlamps are completely being re-worked. I'm totally stoked. The new design will be how any good factory car would come; with the ability to adjust the beam in any direction.
I am taking my time with it, but hoping to button it up soon.

The design with have the upper & side adjustment screw, and the spring (all standard U.S. stuff), but I have also included a flexible pedestal. I accomplished the pedestal last night & it is something that supports the weight of the headlamp through the use of the rivet on threaded fastener (right hand side). I mount a bolt with 2 rubber bushing directly under the bucket. It doesn't interfere with the adjustment, but stabilizes the bucket.

(note: the tool you see is like $50 & punches super clean holes in metal-an improvement over the drill for sure. Love that thing).

The headlights were mounted for a trial run on Thursday late. The mounting system is shown here: spring tension in one corner, rubber on bottom, 1 adjustment fastener on top & 1 on the side. Why are these pics so fricken huge?

So previously I fabbed up a simple adapter pipe using the OEM cat triangle mount to bolt to the Dansk exhaust system. At the time I was fearful of not enough back pressure because of all the horror stories about losing low end grunt and also was worried about the sound since I heard big open exhaust is supposed to sound poopy with the mighty 2.5 litre. So after a 15" or so 3" diameter pipe following the 3" header collector, I stepped it down to adapt the Dansk cat-back exhaust (which was never built for the '88 944 8v). The Dansk cat-back exhaust I have would fit the '87 944 or the '88 924S but not my car. So here's a pic of that. as I've been driving it for 6 months or more... when Wilson co-operates.

dont know why the system wouldnt work on your car, the exhausts are more or less identical from 82-89. i think the very late models might have had an extra resonator though.

by the way, forget the term "back pressure" from your head forever. back pressure is a) always bad and b) never needed.

what people talk about losing is "exhaust velocity" which turns into torque via cylinder scavenging. big pipes = low velocity. small pipes = higher velocity at risk of choked flow at high end.

but the stock pipes are plenty big for a 2.5L NA engine....even the 3.0L S2 and 968 used 52mm or whatever piping like the NA. i have 2" piping (slightly smaller than stock) on the in/out to my catalyst and while otherwise stock my car made more torque than factory rated, at no expense of power. now with some mods i have more torque at the wheels than the factory crank rating and its still through the 2" cat pipes.

Yeah my car had the resonator. V2, I believe what you say to be true brother. In diesel engine school they talked to us about scavenging also but never "back pressure". I appreciate your explanation; You seem to know a lot about exhaust.

Since power is an addictive thing, I have decided to replace the smaller adapter pipe with more 3". (The factory stuff on the car is all 2 1/4" - 2 3/8" depending where you measure & the dansk is 2 3/8" outside diameter. I have found on this car without insulation in the cab that the acoustics are horrendously sensitive. For instance my exhaust as you see it sounded SO GOOD. Then I went to a bigger cam & it sounds worse. Then I got the head ported/polished/shaved & it sounds better... weird, eh? really a gamble me thinks.

Sorry for the dirty sort. Poor Wilson has been ridden hard & put away wet & dirty. I'm not proud

So, some of the EXTRA engine oil leaks I've been experiencing is apparently because I removed the balance shaft pulleys. Surprise surprise.

Any good news? Well, this re-manufactured starter happened.

Found out the price was much better value buying a 10' section.

Nice work! I think the biggest difference between the late and early exhaust is the flange between the cat and the muffler. It's 2 bolts on the early cars I've seen, and 3 bolts on the late cars.

I've never seen a factory 2-bolt mid-flange on any 944, even one from early 1982 (!)

From what I have seen though, they rotated the flanges between the manifolds and the collector pipe at some point.
On some years the flanges "point" the same way, on some years the "lop-sided triangles" are turned different directions.

Mine is a 2-bolt, maybe a PO had it modified. Weird... my parts car was 3 bolt, and I kind of remember 2 bolt flanges on a 83 and 85/1. I'll double check the next time I'm at the local yard.

Yes I found the dansk triangle just ever so slightly different than the '88 Porsches, the triangle was the same size (I even re-used the sealing donut) but had to seriously open up one of the mounting holes to make the bolt fit.... probably due to the "rotation" you speak of.

The kid at work talks about "stance" and how my '44 looks like an 4x4 compared to his Japanese STI.
... talks about stereo upgrades. That damn kid has music playing 24/7. ARGGHH.

LISTEN: A screaming inline 4 Porsche engine is all the stereo this car needs. Sorry.

Why do you make fun of my stock 944 suspension. Have you not noticed the roof is like 3" lower than your car?

My camera FINALLY DIED!!
Maybe now I can post reasonably sized photos. Sorry for that people.

Going to have to give up on this idea because of the gravel roads. Thought about mounting it into the cab but now I thing exhaust and dust would come through into cab. Can anyone think of a good way to mount this on a daily driver? Brainstorming here...
