Not to through a monkey in your wrench now that the uprights are all nice & purdy, but have you seen the new tubular cross member? Has uprights built in, weighs about the same as the stock one with uprights installed. No more hacking up oil pans or crazy hood bulges! I am definitely going to get one for my LT1 install.

LT1 version, LS coming soon:

Wow thats cool! So it would lower the engine compared to some other setups I would assume since you have no hood bulges! Nice!

I wonder if I could lower my LS1 engine in my 924 to get a lower center of gravity... hmmm... I think the oil pan is already too low (to the ground)? I'll have to look.

That wouldn't have helped me at all. The cross member isn't the problem, it's the steering rack that limits the ability to move the engine downward. Sure, you could remount the rack lower, but that throws off the steering geometry and accentuates bump steer.

I don't want to derail this thread, but check out the link at the bottom of the post with the pics for the details. I have no business affiliation other than the fact that I'll most likely be buying one.

I've been watching this thread with interest. Good work going on.

Made me remember this:

For sale here locally:

http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/1647544431.html

1977 Porsche Pro st 924 - $15000 (South side)
383 Chevy Stroker
Dyno 7500 rpm 510 h.p

Might be made street legal easily, but probably not the most comfortable ride.
