Project V8- VT951's Bitchin' Camaro
So Alan has it in his head that putting a big a'merican motor in his car will make him faster than me, so the four banger is gone and the car is now in my garage getting ready for transplant. We've got every toy imaginable to throw at this thing for the swap so hopefully it'll go pretty smoothly. Start with a 2000 Corvette LS1 motor w/ 24k on the clock. Rack was swapped to a manual and all the clutch adapters are present. He sent the harness out to get it adapted to the motors new computer and everything should plug right up. The oil cooler will be mounted up where the IC used to reside and a larger cam and lifters should work well with some nice headers to free up some power- hopefully in the 400+ to the crank range. The other night we ran the harness for the front half of the car through a new hole in the DS wheel well and rerouted it to make room for the header on the DS and clean up the engine bay. Tonite i pounded out some of the PS wheel well and smoothed it up since we dont need the coil or power steering resevoir anymore.
BTW- check out the nice new stance of the Boost mobile!

if you remember a guy w/ a Grey 968 in Excellence magazine a few years back w/ an LS swap, he is helping alot supply the custom adapters etc. for this project. He has alot of hookups.

If you guys end up with a spare oil cooler adapter off that old turbo engine, lemme know. : )
BTW, Friend of mine did a Renegade Hybrids conversion on his 87 944 several years ago. Did it completely in his driveway so I know you guys will get er done no prob in that taj garage of yours Dan..
And tell Alan, just because he has bigger motor, he still needs to learn how to drive stick so he dosen't blow the clutch up. :O

No this is VT951's car, believe it or not there is more than 1 Red 944 in this town <sarcasm>. My car will be keeping the title of slowest 944 in Cincinnati. (Well I guess not quite the slowest since its no longer up on blocks.)

I have a business idea that involves setting up a "camp" for gearheads where you basically build an LS engine to your desired spec. You get 6 or 10 students and one or two great techs, and you build from a bare block right up to the dyno runs. It would be fun, educational, and in the end you get to take home a 400HP monster. You can use it or make a coffee table out of it.
