Another update from my painter today for my '86 944. Front guards are off, door handles off, he's mocked up an S2 airbox in the nose and a 968 washer bottle on the RHS.
The S2 airbox is to replace the motorbike air filter I had been using post-968 conversion. The 968 washer bottle is to make space on the inner guard for a remote oil filter kit.

Drain pipes
Routine cleaning of the sunroof drains produced two nasty surprises. Right rear was disconnected at the Y union and the left rear had been cut and flattened. While the car overnights in the garage it will soon be elsewhere to make room for another work in progress. It pays to check these things once in a while.

Pulled both front calipers apart as I'd noticed they had started to stick a little bit. Turned out to caused by lack of use, a bit junked up and the pad sticking in the calipers a little bit.
All taken apart, everything given a good clean and junk/dirt removed means they now bite nicely and release easily - also a free fix which makes a change.

There's a lot to like in this photo!! I love your cam gear set up!
Paint update #3 Preparing the panels has revealed 'some history'. I knew it had a repaint of some type in it's past before me due to the door bumper strips being painted over that was unsightly when I removed the strips.
It had been backed into in a carpark in 2011 and when I had that fixed I had them add an AIR 924 Carrera GTS front spoiler so there's some paint added. I will find out more in a video call tomorrow morning.

Changed the Transmission Fluid, used RedLine 75W 90 synthetic, 2.5 quarts. Shifts much smoother and quicker. Put a short shift kit in while ago. Well worth for both.
Have some trouble getting out first gear after being parked - not related to oil change or short shift - any ideas?

I'm getting started on a '86 944 N/A. I've really been enjoying the forum and learning A LOT by going through old threads. She's up on blocks today and I took down the brakes today all the way to the hard lines. Also removed master cylinder to inspect.
Parallel to that my sons are removing the reference sensor bracket since we broke the rear sensor off trying to pull it out. We have both of the mounting screws out, which was not bad at all (sounds like we were lucky). Just trying to figure out how to get bracket out with that rear sensor still in it...
Fun stuff! I am a relative noob so I'm sure I'll have some noob questions but wanted to drop a line in the thread as a way to say thanks to all the posters. Invaluable forum!
Cheers,
Todd

Maybe it's just stiff and cold from being parked a while. How is it going into reverse? If it's crunchy going into first and reverse, your clutch may need some adjustment or replacement...Just hope and pray it's not the first gear synchros. Perhaps driving it a bit will loosen things up once it gets warm..fingers crossed for you.
