Finally found the time to install rear section of my SFR exhaust. Had to put a relief in the exhaust as it hits the sway bar and will need to goto a shop to move rear brackets a few inches back. Put temp brackets in place for now.
Have an 86 951....Finally got around to rebuilding my ball joints with a Rennbay kit -a lot easier than I was anticipating. Previous owner had done them before with a cheap kit....had plastic bushings. Finished them off with new caster blocks form elephant racing. Also replaced front and rear sway bar bushings from paragon porsche. Completely new front end!
Then brought it over to Wayne at South Shore Autoworks in Kingston MA to have the T&B belts retensioned and my new kuehl ac compressor charged -134A with ice cold results (kit from Griffiths). Just in time for the Boston heat wave!
I stand corrected, but i wouldn't do it.
Water pump fasteners cause folks enough issues already.
I’m sure they do.Skinny M6 bolts/studs around water in a mixed metal environment is a recipe for trouble hey. One reason most of those bolts are new chromated items. I didn’t expect to see that recommendation it has to be said. Though I’m assuming Porsche might be aware of a pump loosening, with nasty consequences maybe, to put that in the manual. Hard to know what’s best all considered. Thinking on this ... I didn’t realise this wasn’t really a 968 thread when I posted, just wonder if anyone here has the same page from an older 944 S2 manual and can report what it says there. Maybe they changed advice.
