Can you tell I don't want to put this away for the winter Changed the sparkplugs - NGK BR9EIX (noticed a few mL of oil in one of the plug wells) and discovered that it's possible to change out the transaxle fluid without jacking the car up. The trick is to remove the 2 nuts holding the muffler so it flexes toward the driver side rear wheel, then you can get your hands in to remove the hex nuts on the transaxle with a crescent wrench around a 17mm hex bit.. see the picture below of the old (very smelly) oil that came out, and only about 1L which is probably why I could hear scraping once in a while in low gear. I used a plastic hand pump to refill 2.5 L or so. Went for a quick drive and the scraping is gone..

My944 S2 has been turning over a bit slow. Since it's going to bed in it's garage pretty soon I decided to replace the battery. I don't understand why keeping a battery on a tender and light use of the car in general eats batteries. Oh, and holy crap, I haven't bought a battery in a few years, I think 3. When did they double in price?

I've often thought that this must be why Porsche offered (included?) a kill-switch in earlier models. And if you didn't have one, it seems as though some have felt the need to add such a device. Anyways, be glad you don't own a 928...

I believe we can thank our Federal Gov. for that, The EPA to be exact. The EPA caused the shutdown of the last lead smelter in the US, now all ore must be processed off US soil.
While the EPA did not march in and shut down operations, they did impose strict and VERY expensive pollution regulations, and the company said screw it and closed the doors.
Joining this thread in the middle of a late, frantic build of a new 924S racecar I am building. Goal is to have it on track at Road Atlanta next week end.
Today:
Installed Hawk track brake pads and stainless steel brake lines, filled reservoir and bled brake and clutch system after a new brake booster/master, and clutch master/slave. Now I'm fabricating a Mocal external oil cooler mounted in front of the radiator. Next is making the oil cooler lines with AN -12 fittings from the cooler to the 951 console.
Yesterday:
Installed brake booster and master.
In last 2 weeks:
Removed restrictor from fuel filler neck, cleaned early struts and had powder coated, installed bilstein HD strut inserts, Ground Control top mount camber plates with cross brace, installed 86 spindles without speedo hole, new brake rotors on all 4 corners, new reinforced front steel A arms with poly bushings, new ball joints with oversized hardware, filled coolant system and fixed leaks, installed weltmeister bushings in torsion tube, installed 30mm torsion bars,modified and painted spring plates for removable torsion bars through body hole, drilled torsion bar hole in body, installed delrin bushings in rear aluminum banana arms, installed torsion tube assembly, installed bilstein shocks, installed new fuel tank sock/filter/hose, new Rennbay engine bay fuel hose, fabricated new oversized battery cables, installed stock radiator fans, installed rear sway bar, installed Y pipe exhaust
Still left to do:
Finish external oil cooler, track down coolant leak (likely upper water neck), install cat back exhaust, install CV axles, fill transaxle oil, install front sway bar, test run, install seats, install harness bar, install harnesses, mount tires on wider 7" wheels, alignment, roll fenders for wider wheels, fix door handles with repair kit
will definitely be interested in how this goes.
if you are taking it somewhere to have a shop mate the parts together...in all seriousness, ask if there'd be any discount to do two of them like that...
