Today I put my HVAC box back together with fresh seals inside and out. This was one of those projects I wish I had never started....

Drove it last evening.
I remember some posts about how poor the 924/44 lights are for US cars especially...so i took a photo of how the OEM 924 lights look on ROW cars.
not too bad, ok not so intense as modern cars but still pretty good for a 32 years car.

EDIT: today i did some work on the 931

Won the battle against the nose panel of my 931.
After A LOT of hard work i managed to take it off without destroying it or damaging the car.
The panel was replaced and welded in place but it has rust damage under the crest and various dents and it needs at least a re-seat to look right if not replacement.
That being said, anyone that wants to sell me a 931 nose panel in good condition?

Today...Sunday..I managed to finish a 2 week off and on project by getting all 4 of the bearings out of my Torque Tube...YAY! And they look really good for 30 year old bearings that have been sitting for at least 10 years! What a PITA! I hope that I NEVER, EVER have to do this job again..at least on this car...Thanks

Got to both of them today:

Mr. Blue (1987 924s Kopenhagen Blue) received a new rocker panel.

Mr. White (1987 924s Alpine White) got fresh oil & filter, hood struts and the power steering belt was returned to its rightful position after discovering it had come off the pulleys.

Yesterday I unboxed my new A/C compressor, receiver/drier, a butt load of orings, new A/C line from the compressor to the condenser, R12 to R134a adapter, a new belt, and mounting hardware for the compressor

Today I put on my new expansion valve with fresh orings

I only needed about 3 feet of this tar tape to wrap my expansion valve but I had to buy a whole 25 foot roll

All wrapped up in black goo

Got the HVAC box back in and hooked everything up. I'm almost ready to install my freshly recovered dash

You're a braver man than I.

I like the name of the compressor.

I installed one of those conversion kits for someone a while back.
I was impressed with the quality of the brackets and stuff but the compressor failed in about a year.
I hope yours lasts longer.

This definitely was not fun. I NEVER want to do this again.

Did you flush the system before installing the conversion kit? Did you put in a new receiver/drier? Once it warms up I'm gonna take it to a shop and have them flush out all the mineral oil and other crap before installing my kit and getting it vacuumed. I'm pretty sure the compressor comes with a warranty, but I'll have to double check.

Flushed system, replaced the receiver dryer and replaced the condenser too. Didn't do anything under the dash though.

It was a "Vintage Air" or something like that, "Sanden-style" compressor of identical design to the one you have, like $200-$300 off Summit Racing. I think the difference is the style/shape/fitment is the same but the internal parts are different quality levels than what Keuhl (I believe genuine Sanden) offers.

Started the job of modifying the wiring harness of my motor for my S2. I got about 1/4 of the way in and found myself falling asleep. Need the motor to be ready I guess before more motivation is inspired. We will see if I can get one coming this week. I also got the billet aluminum I need to start the machining process.

Today I filled/bled the coolant, then drained the tank and replaced the fuel strainer. The old one wasn't too bad

After that I filled it up with fresh gas and took it for a spin to bleed off any remaining air

Anyone know where this goes? I put my blower motor back in last night and it was in the bag I saved all the screw/bolts, but I can't figure out where it went. It looks orange in the picture, but it's actually brown.

First thing I did today was put my mirror back together

After that I put my new Only944 shifter in. This thing rules!!!!!!!!!!

Last thing I did was glue some felt to the little flap in the drivers side vent. All of the foam was gone so hopefully it'll seal nicely now. In the picture it looks like there's no felt on the left side, but there is. It's just folded in.
