Drove down my sunny dirt road deep in bear country to warm it up. Hoped that the fans would work after replacing the thermo switch and relay. Seems as though only the driver's side would go on...

Pulled the radiator, front sway bar and assorted vacuum hoses to get the engine out.
Got stuck because I forgot I don't currently have a puller to get the front tie rods off.

You don't need a puller - back off the nut til its just flush with the end of the bolt and smack it with a BMF hammer.

From visual inspection, that bolt appeared to be threaded. We're talking about the bolt with the "Crown" nut and the split pin through it, right?

If yes, I'ma put a standard high tensile nut on it and whack that SOB.

I ordered some new parts today for my newly acquired 89 S2 including:

clutch master cylinder
clutch slave cylinder
blue hose, clutch hose, firewall gasket etc.
right fog light lens (really...no one makes these cheaper?)
steering wheel cover
shift boot and shift ****
center storage tray/armrest

All in all it was an expensive day but the car was the right price so why not. I mean sure it has 204,000 miles but it makes all the right noises and none of the bad ones.

Pulled, opened, checked DME for bad solder joints, cleaned and burnished connectors and contacts. Same with the TPS and AFM. Pulled and regapped plugs. Hesitation on acceleration is now history. On to the next issue: water leak during rain on passenger front foot well. Its a new windshield so not sure if it's from that or down tube from sun roof drain.

Last week I drove from Albuquerque to southeast KY in mine to attend a really cool gathering of early (48 - 60) Ford trucks. Way out in coal country in the Appalachians. Some mighty "interesting" roads in the mountains, no Armco... 1,660 miles so far with no issues, heading to Chicago area now. Total trip length will be 4,200 miles +/-.

Check the battery box. One of the POs of my car drilled through the firewall for some stereo wiring and water was draining through the hole. Or it could be the somewhat common rust issue on the floor of the battery box.

Finished putting the intake back on my daily driver. I removed a shot glass worth of aluminum from the afm. I did this mod to my cab last year, so now I'm doing it to my daily driver. I resisted the urge to port out the tb, so I can determine any seat of the pants difference with the afm mod alone..I'll have to wait and see. It is the main restriction in the intake afterall. "while I was at it" I cleaned all the connectors, and cleaned everything else that was in the area. I'll likely do the tb next weekend if I have time.

Wash, Wax, vacuum, and installed the racing harnesses in the back for my boys. I don't like the lab belt only that was back there.
