I gone over 150 in a 87 928S4 (a little more than 3/4 throttle), chipped 335k mile 86 951 (took forever from 145 to 150) and 87 FZR 1000 (got up to 150 real fast, got scared, and backed off). Converted with Nex's mph calculation table, I would have broken 200 mph mark in all 3 vehicles.

BB, those are TOO much, man. I was sure when I left work last night that this thread grew like cancer, and sure enough, it has. Dude, I hosed my coffee out of my nose when I saw your Tubro.
Since we're all in the bragging mode, I had my Camaro up to 130mph (redlined and purring like an old small block Chevy does), my bud's FZR 1000 buried the neddle into the odometer (numbers stopped at 160mph, we figured with correction it was an honest 170mph). Hell, I cracked 45mph on my mountainbike in NorCal once (through/ over a rock garden). My old '74 Celica rapped out at 110, my Acura cruises happily along at 90-110, but my old '78 Corolla (with over 400K miles on an UNrebuilt motor) didn't really redline. It just kept going. We ran it up to somewhere near 110-115. I still miss that turd. Maybe NEX is driving it now...

heh i was in this same position before, until i found out my speedo was off by like 7-8 miles an hour....i couldn't get past 145 and believe me it TOOK forever to get up to that (downhill might i add).......btw this was when i had 130,000 on my car and with a 951 tranny....

My friend has an 85 Chevy Blazer (full size). Needless to say it's not that great for speed. Out of the 5.7 liter v8 a whopping 168 horses and yeah real slow. The speedo is broken so I got it to go around once past 90 and back up to 30 or so. Actual speed maybe 80 max.

porshhhh951,
By your tone, I feel you just assumed by my sig that i'm either an idiot or a troll, and just wanted to poke fun and could care less about actually finding something out. I feel that you've decided to laugh at me and make me the center of some joke without knowing the full details.
As for how I got an "88 968", the 968 was only available from 91-95. That excludes model year 88 which you so keenly deduced. In actuallity I have an 88 944 with a 968 engine and transaxle conversion. It took quite allot of time and effort, and I'm proud of what I have as being different, So I thought I would call it something else for fun, I felt the car desereved it. My sig used to be a more obscure reference, 944S3. But that was before feb 2003, so you're probably not familiar with my story. I changed it as a joke to what it is today and forgot to change it back. I'll probably change it back soon to avoid future hasle and keep my brand of humor to myself.
As for the GT40 portion of my sig if you realy care, I'd tell you about that too, if you could refrain from being facetious about it. Sorry to you and everyone else for getting my feathers so ruffled, It's been a hard month and I just felt I was rubbed the wrong way. Now that I've spoke my mind I'll turn the rant off,
God Bless.
