Back at home, I opened the box of brake parts. I have not seen these for a year. Everything looks complete. Seems like the sensible (and lazy) thing is to send the calipers and proportioning valve to PMB for rebuilding.

The master cylinder looks ugly, but I already have a new replacement. New brake lines are on order.

The other components I want to send out are the seat belts, for re-webbing. The hardware also needs some attention. Besides cleaning, I removed the wire harness for the warning light.

The PO included the release buttons on his black-out painting. Fortunately the remaining paint came off easily.

For my '75, I merely scanned and re-printed laminated stickers - the one with the over stick waterproof cover sheet - on my PC printer.
It took me ten minutes and you cannot tell the difference from the original.

Thanks, Kuro. I suspected that, from the bit of orange tint on the edges.

I also decided to check out the retractors. Oops.

A bit of patience, and I got it rewound.

I also took care of some PO red overspray on the side covers.

And I poked around a bit on the auto-latch side.

And then I cleaned up the anchors on the end of the belts. One looks OK, but the other is rusted by half. I want to get new belt webbing sewn, and will need to get new anchors. BTW, I am thinking of getting belts in the new body color (tease).

Speaking of body color, I stopped by the shop today. They painted the underside, including the fender wells, yesterday and have the body mounted on the dolly today.

I got my re-chromed bumpers from Tucson, work done by Royal Plating.

I had them fill the holes for the front bumperettes.

I read the entire thread today and must say I am thoroughly impressed with this project and especially your capabilities. I noted you were going to write a new textbook for college teachers. What is the subject?

Thanks. I like learning by doing, and trying to be patient.

Actually, the book is a text for undergraduate structural geology, usually a sophomore or junior year course. And not completely new, but a significant update of an existing text.

A bit more component reassembly work today, starting with the handbrake lever.

All the parts ready.

Ready to go (I just need one pin and retainer).

And then the pedal cluster. Again, all the parts powder coated or brushed and rust-proofed (actually more like rust-prevented).

Partly assembled.

Pressing in the clutch pedal pivot pin.

All done and ready for installation.

Close up. Clean and shiny is good.

And then sorting through the last big box under the table, with various engine parts. I need to finish these and other parts before next week, when I hope to bring the car home from the body shop.
