Didn't really damage the paint under the Ziebart. Really wasn't much or any rust per se luckily. Sure removed any grease or oil residue etc. Also had him hit the fan housing and front of the engine which had some oil grime etc and that really came out clean. Would just recommend doing it outside if possible as it left a layer of dust etc on everything in the garage even though I had fans pushing the air out as they were doing it.

Reviving a zombie thread to simply compliment you Bob, if you are still on rennlist. I visited the "other" site for the last couple of years and watched all the way to the end, with you battling that last oil leak. Victory!
Your skills are bar none. Congratulations and thanks for an entertaining documentation of the process.
Cheers

I have yet to see the car in person (a good friend with deep Porsche and 914 experience checked it for me--thanks, Mark!), but it seems to be very original and complete. I have to wait until early September to fetch it, but I am already making plans and lists.

that’s rare hahaha

Sorry, I have not checked the Rennlist 914 pages for a while. Thanks for the kind words, and glad you liked the story.

As often happens, looks are deceiving. If you want to know more, and how I spent the next 3 years, check out the story here: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.p...pic=341193&hl=
