Did a quick mask up to check out the lines. Subtle I know but when reviewing deep 6 fuchs pictures on the web, there are ones that I like and have defined this as lots of rim, and bolder florets with the masking allowing more of the fat ends of the florets as they curve to the rim showing naked. A few refinements needed here to make them look right.
Gives the wheels more chunk. No doubt not correct, but then neither is the car so doesn't matter.
Light sand here makes the wheel look like it has 45 years of patina - tempting.

Experimenting with a few different black out styles here. Wheel on the left has the masking right down at the base of the florets and turns into the rim quite a bit. Wheel on the right has the masking part way up the floret and not so far into the rim. I think I prefer the latter.

A few things I learnt doing this;
you still gotta do a lot of masking
The masking guide made from fibreglass works great
Running a high tide line around the rim in etch primer poured in as a first step makes getting a straight masking line right at the inside of the lip real easy.

Sometimes you discover things just a day too late.
I've been working on the design for 964 upper and lower rocker covers for a fellow Rennlister up the road and the first proto's were machined today from billet. The top of the cover in the picture has been bead blasted. Now that's no big deal on a normal day but the CNC shop I use recently got a bead blaster and if I'd known I would have run the Fuchs through there and got a satin finish on the shiny bits. Next time.

...chosen Pirelli 195-65-15 tires for road use. The 205-50's for track struggle to fill the arches and the car can't go much lower with those. The 195-65's should allow it to drop a little more.
