First big road trip in the T. 1000kms around New Zealand's far north province. Largely traffic free off the main highways and good smooth flowing 3rd - 4th gear roads. Oldest car in the group but managed to keep up - most of the time anyway.
So it's probably coming to a point where this thread is complete. Had the car home about 9 months now and have driven it 4000 miles, a mixture of track, tootling around the streets of Auckland and finally a decent road run with some seriously capable modern cars and drivers. This road trip really confirmed to me that we did it right for what I wanted the car to be. Nothing special in terms of hi-Po engine or trick chassis bits and this came through just now with the light weight and reasonably conservatively setup chassis loving the stock 3.2 Carrera engine. Using third out of what would be second gear corners in the faster cars saw a creamy smooth flow of torque pulling it along and not losing out. I've learnt to drive it better, the LHD steering position is now quite familiar to me and everything falls to hand and foot perfectly. The seats are great, driving position just right and the interior is a pleasure to be in. It's a pure delight in all aspects. I rate this as a superior driving tool to all my previous air cooled cars maybe not in outright performance but in absolute pureness of what I imagined the true 911 experience to be. A Small self gratuitous pat on the back there but I'm so happy with the Orange T and how it turned out.

Tell that guy that we at least noticed it was a Porsche too. A serious thank you to you for giving all us licence to mod and personalize our cars. You've give us great cover....and we LOVE your car.

FWIW, I left my "turn-9 booboo" (considerable dent in rear quarter panel right behind door) as a reminder I'm supposed to be having fun with my little beastie. Enjoy the next phase of that wonderful example of 911 goodness!!!

Track day, Bruce McLaren MotorSport park, Taupo, NZ. The T brushed off the clash with the tire barrier a couple of days earlier and got right back to it.
