The carpet and leather balance really well Dave, both in pattern and colour. Going to look absolutely stunning in person. Got a name for her yet?
Actually no.
I always laughed when the NZ green party was called the Watermellon party; Green on the outside but red on the inside.
My daughter suggested Jaffa but then she is too young to understand the true meaning so that name won't fly.
Seats update; happy....but....run out of big pieces of embossed leather. Stamped one whole hide but this has been insufficient.
So I have to say that parts of the seat faces are somewhat temporary. The guys had to sew a few smaller panels in. I can live with the seam at the top of the backrest instead of the regular double stich, but the back of the base with a seam is not right and will be changed. It is velcro'd to the seat shell as in the original race seat squabs so no big deal to do later.
Have no choice but to run with that until I can get a bit more leather stamped.
Yes, very nice leather.
Need some more to finish rear seat bases and carpet edges.
Rang up the tannery and they said that it is NLA. That's no good at all.
Any ideas? can you get a similar shade and texture and have it re coloured or tinted?
I can get away with carpet edges being a similar leather because these are only a few mm wide but the rear seat bases are a bit more obvious.
I am not sure at this stage if this isn't the final attempt at the interior.
Good news!
Crisis averted. The good folk at the tannery rang around and a customer of theirs in Blenheim has some left over from a sofa job and are sending up the offcuts.
Not so good news is that there isn't much so the chances of re working some of the seats is now looking slim.
I decided to have some vinyl put on the dash behind the gauges, and along under the ciggy lighter and fog switch. No idea if this is correct but kind of seemed silly not to have that area looking tidy since I'm putting a bit of time into the dash trim plates. Makes the gauge rings look a bit tired but that can be a job for another day.
Collected the car today. Interior finish is stunning. The car has come up so well and the last push to perfect a few details has made all the difference.
