Headlining arrived from Germany today; headlining being fitted by Robin today.
The good news is that we will be fitting the windows next.

Robin finished the details on the headlining installation this morning and gluing the vinyl to the A- & B-posts. One of the secrets to getting a nice, tight finish in cold weather is to warm up the headlining which Robin sorted using a small ceramic radiant heater on the floor pan pointing upwards.

I'd like for Myself and Colin to sign the dashtop in yellow crayon like they used to mark the ID Number in hte factory on shells. This would be unseen , hopefully for a long time as it will be covered by the dash. Photo attd to show what I mean. ( pinched from DDK Forum, thanks ).
I'm sure there are other watchers here who revel like not what's in Colin's photos but the things lurking therein - like drums of Millers Oil ( wonder does he recommend it ?) and the way Robin's blue gloves match the blue of the lift ramps. Attention to detail !

Now the headlining has been fitted, after a little tidying up we can turn our attention to fitting the glass. Robin and Marc start with the rear screen. The alloy trim strip is fitted into the rubber before the screen is strung into place but keeping it there during installation is notoriously difficult. This one went in with brand new trim which as usual needed to be straightened by hand to get it to fit - but with final "adjustments" done after installation with a little rubber mallet. Mint.
Robin then made a start on the installation of the new-old-stock early 911 felt carpet which has been hidden in a cupboard in Ireland for the last 20 years or so. This is also proving to be a challenge as it is very stiff, however we think we might have found a solution to get the carpet to stretch and follow the contours of the tub. More on this later.

Robin is still beavering away on the interior, blending the RS lightweight carpet set onto the original trim in order to get it looking "just right". We ended up using the original rear shelf and side panels, removed the vinyl and glued the carpet onto the trim, thus adding to the sound absorption and giving the carpet a clean, flat look. The masking tape marks the extremity of the glue line for the Hon-Duh lower section which Robin was spray gluing ready to fit.
I had a 2 hour fight fitting the outer seal rubbers onto the opening rear quarter lights yesterday, hopefully with the trim done we can now drill and screw on the new factory lower trims and fit the quarters tomorrow.

So the good news is that all is going together with the build. The bad news, looking at the three wheels the car cam on, is that we need a set of matching 6" Fuchs wheels. Anyone got any going spare for Dave?
