So the '17's and '18s are missing the fakra connector on the back of the cluster . Has anyone (attempted) to add the cable to a '19? My buddy has a '19 w/o factory Nav that we activated with MIB-AIO. He would like to add the LVDS cable but now isn't sure as he doesn't know if his cluster has the connector.

I don't want the feature bad enough to solder on a connector and hope the rest of the support is "in the box" so I sold the cable. Was just doing this to complete the Nav update so not a big deal in the end

yeah same for me, except I left the cable still routed lol. I should pull it and sell it. I’m experienced with soldering but I’m wondering if the circuit board has the connections mapped and I don’t mind that much either as I use CarPlay as it has traffic.

I would be so surprised if the actual circuit board is different, there would be no reason or cost savings at this level, leaving components off yes, but not the copper tracks on it.

Is there anything I would be missing without the cable? Except the nav display in the cluster, of course.

My guess would be that the cluster has everything programmed for LVDS input. I see the option to add NAV to cluster regardless of MY in PIWIS. For me, it is not worth soldering the connector since the cluster is so expensive to replace if you screw up.

Operational OEM NAV (with its GPS) should facilitate auto time setting for the clock.

Compass, Altitude Meter and Auto Time Sync are added to the cluster menu with PIWIS coding.

Ah, so Auto Time Sync does not work without the cable (and PIWIS coding)?

No the LVDS cable is just to display the Map. It has nothing to do with coding. But you need to code the cluster in order to see the Map

Ack, thanks. I will pass on getting the cable then and messing with the cluster. No plan to use the Nav except in the rare case if I get out of the cell range and/or forget to download offline maps.

Took out my buddy's cluster today, unfortunately it looks like we can add '19's to the list that don't have the fakra connector for the cluster. His build date was 02/19.

If I recall correctly even without the cable the Navigation display in the cluster will still show turn by turn instructions (arrows) as long as the cluster has been coded with PIWIS. I believe you can still input destinations too. You just won't have the maps but you can de-select maps in the menu scope so you can skip the "no video" message..

As long as you have a GPS antenna installed auto time should work, however the cluster has to be enabled before you can de-elect auto time zone. If you don't enable the cluster auto time zone is enabled by default.

I’m in the process of doing the DIY now but I’ve run into an issue… using the new method, I made it as far and the SVM fix/backup. This is about 3 minutes into the DIY video walkthrough. The PCM went into reboot, but never started back up. The battery is showing as charged via the external charger that’s hooked up to it. The key is still in the ignition. Not sure what I should do at this point. The PCM did show NAV and maps. Is it ok to pull the key out of the ignition as to power up the PCM again?
