Exactly, even if I never used it those buttons bugged me. I may yet enable the cluster display, but it's not a priority at all.

I don't use the onboard Nav for directions or routing, but I do like being able to pull up the map on the PCM with the push of the button. Well worth it.

I can't believe I'm even asking questions on this since I just got my 2022 BGTS a week ago, but is it really this easy to add Nav? I'm no software genius and I'm very apprehensive but I'm contemplating it. If someone could just confirm my understanding of this process, it would certainly help reassure me.
My 22 BGTS has Bose, wired Carplay, no Nav.
I don't really need the maps to show in the cluster so I'm not contemplating adding that cable
So I just download the file from here? https://mibwiki.one/share/30b7c0f9-a...1-20f4309ef4bb
Put it on a FAT32 formatted SD card, etc and that's it?
Since my car is new it should have the latest maps already installed?
This won't affect my Bose in any way?
Does this add the compass feature as well?
And my name isn't Murphy but it might as well be. How can I screw this up?

I just did it, and that is a pretty accurate description. I didn't have Carplay, so I had to add an antenna, but my understanding is that you must already have that antenna.

I have a similarly equipped '22 BGTS

This is where you get the file - https://mibsolution.one/#/1/9/MHI2%2...are/Porsche/US
login - Guest (or guest)
password - Guest (or guest)

Use the AIO file (the first one)
Porsche recommends a battery charger and engine not running during updates (map update takes 40min)
Depending on your build date you will have '21/'22 maps or '22 maps already installed.
you'll have a compass in maps on PCM, no compass, maps or Nav in cluster until activated with PIWIS. For maps in cluster you need to add LVDS cable.

Good luck!

Ok, I see that link has a later version. One last question......is it recommended to backup the existing FW? If so, how do i do that?

For maps in cluster, if my car came with Nav...it's already installed?

Waiting for Porsche sales rep to pick me up at rental car drop off and go puck up my new car!

Thanks, figured that was the case, but wanted to confirm Just got home with new car, ran Nav system in the cluster, Map on the PCM screen and Google Maps & Wase on my Samsung S21 in a vent holder connected via USB. Downloading MIB files now, runs really slow.

Running through steps here: https://mibwiki.one/share/30b7c0f9-a...1-20f4309ef4bb

Have my SD card formatted and ready to go. Two questions:
  1. Any option to speed up the download? Running really slow.
  2. Hooking batter charger to car. Pop frunk, pull black cover panel (above luggage well) off and connect both positive & negative from charger to battery...or just positive and negative attach to car?

Success! AA installed and works great. Many thanks to all who made this possible. Downloading updated maps now for update later.

Belated note for those that run into this issue—I followed MIB's instructions from the 718forum thread and was able to install the map update with no problem.

Does anybody have a newer map than P85_N60S5MIBH3_NAR_NT_Q1.21 or V0395804FC 0085 NAR 2022?

OEM cable is $87 cdn plus tax and 4 weeks lead time. [size=13px]

*** update the AliExpress LVDS cable that I received (linked above) did not work due to incorrect pin configuration. It's output is 180 degrees off compared to OEM. Don't know if it's a one-off defect. The output barrel can be removed and modified to correct the problem. I ended up using OEM. ***

Another success ... thanks to @718socal and everyone who contributed to this thread!

Uh Oh! Was this the cable that didn't work?

Your cable won't work for 2 reasons;
- its an 1 pin RF extension not a 4 pin LVDS.
- its male > female instead of male > male

The AliExpress cable pictured below should be OK to use with a slight mod to the straight end's plastic barrel to rotate the barrel 1/2 turn to achieve the same pin arrangement as OEM. Here is a pic of the AliExpress LVDS cable ...

Oh geez - sounds like I really got that order wrong. I think I will just get the OEM cable and be done with it. Thanks for the details.
