But by late model 2024, I predict many more people will be able to order, and by 2025 model year, you will be able to choose between getting an ordered one or buy a pre-owned one. The net effect for Porsche is they will sell just as many Caymans as they have for the past 6 years, except they will mostly be GT4RSs, and earn a lot more money on each Cayman sale. Brilliant!
They’re “mass producing” GT4/Spyder now and in 3rd production MY. Not very easy to obtain now, trends say it’s getting more difficult.

There won’t be a MY25, that’ll be the EV…stated by Porsche for some time now.

MY 2025 starting in summer/early fall 2024.

You have about 2 years from now to get an allocation.

IMO of course…

Based on the long AP interview with Chris Harris not long ago, I think their goal is to “mass produce” them to the same degree as they did the GT3. They’d still be rare but not something that can’t be obtained after a few years of waiting.

That said, the war in Ukraine might hurt their ability to produce cars of all types, and who knows how long it will take to resolve or if more surprises will come before ~2025.

Honestly I wish they make as many as they can sell. It would put a damper on people trying to make a few k and wasting a production slot. Cars shouldn't be seen as "investments." Let me buy my GT4RS and lose money on it. I'll live.

I think there is a bigger chance the supply chain disruptions will affect ability to produce EVs. So I'd no bet on EV Cayster showing up in 2024 at all, or not in any meanigful numbers.

I am kinda happy for that because EVs are one big ****ing swindle, and boring at that.

(Disclaimer: EV owner for 3+ years. Good appliance, nothing more).

What is your definition of mass production? Were the GT3RS mass produced? They built 4,500 of the 991.1s, and 4,800 991.2s - source.

Porsche is only concerned with the PERCEPTION of special when it comes to limiting production. They will acheive this by building less cars than demand. Not by building very few cars.

Again, based on the fact that they are marketing the heck out of the GT4RS, and the fact that the GT4RS must bridge the gap until the new e-Cayman is fully developed, I am predicting that Porsche will build a lot of them, certainly more than the GT3RSs because of the above reasons and the reality that a lower price point appeals to a wider audience.

I think they could easily sell 8,500 of them without oversupplying the market. And, back to the point in my original post - True, initially scarce, then more readily available, then plenty used and more easily obtained new. Its the Porsche playbook.

Yesterday I submitted my ED paperwork. Result was that TYD now shows dashes instead of dates. Further info from dealer shows that the PVMS system also is affected. So might be that an update at PAG caused some glitches.

When every single Porsche is "rare" and "Special", which ones really are? Porsche doesn't care, they'll pump out more of these than you could ever imagine. The latest gt4rs allocation at my local dealer was 7, there's a lot more to come.

Any 964 turbo/Any 993/996 gt2/ gt3/996gt3rs/997.1gt3/997.1gt3rs/997.2gt2/997.2gt3/997.2gt3rs/997.2gt3rs4.0/997.2gt2rs/997.2 speedster/991.1gt3rs/991.2gt2rs/991.2gt3/991.1R/991.2gt3rs/991.2speedster/992gt3/gt4rs

I mean everyone acts like these are collectible...and i've had a bunch of them, they aren't. Millennials (I'm one of them) will not keep this market going in another 20 years, and Porsche knows that these fossil burners are all but over. These cars are the equivalent of mecum auction of 60's muscle cars from 20 years ago. Porsche doesn't care about keeping anything rare, they are not in the business to make collectibles, they'll pump as many of these out as they can, just watch.

7 GT4RS allocations in one allotment? Wow, which dealer is this?

1. Your dealer has received more than one round of 4RS allocations? I haven’t heard of any dealer getting a second round of allocations.

2. They received 7 in the last one?! That a lot compared to any other dealer I’ve heard about.
