If there's no limit.....then they are doing a poor job of it with hardly any allocations out there. I think my dealer got 2 so far, both of went to 918 VIPs.

Exactly! We’re seeing that in the GT4/Spyder as we enter the 4th MY. Probably discounts…

Just because the initial allocations in a very short model year are sparse doesn't mean Porsche isn't gonna make a healthy number of cars over the duration of production. If we get a year into the GT4RS and allocations are still a relative trickle, then it's time to worry.

The main things we've gotta worry about now are supply chain disruptions and a big spike in demand as reviews boost hype even more.

Lets be honest if you aren't firmly on a list with your chosen dealer you stand no chance unless you are paying 100k+ markup.

Well yeah, if you haven't decided by now that you want a GT4RS and gotten on a list, you're almost certainly going to pay a mark up. That markup will depend on your region. At the end of the day, epic though it is, the GT4RS is still a Cayman so paying $250-280k for one is hard to justify for anyone who isn't hell bent on getting one and is somewhat price-insensitive.

Yup 100% agree. When you think about it...when the 4RS CS hit the the used market...they will be cheaper! LOL

They are going to build a lot as the margin on these cars is relatively great for them, as well as AP explicitly stating so with a minimum 2-2.5 year run. I would bet the bank you can get sticker on one in 12-18 months without much issue.

GT4/Spyder you could get sticker anywhere essentially all of 2020 and first few months of 2021...Those care are getting sunsetted now as they are approaching the end of the run.

So sad that I finally am able to buy an RS car and my local dealer has 250 on wait list they said. Is it safe to say that even if I wait 2 years I wont be able to get an RS ordered anywhere in the US?

At this point...unless you want to pay a big dollar ADM, you are extremely late to the game.

You're really late in the game but if you hit the phones now and scour the country you might find a dealer that has a list short enough that you'll get a car before the end of the run. Might have to pay a markup, but it's not impossible.

Two big (unknown) things are going to change the availability of this car.

1/ They stop GT4 / Spyder at MY22

2/ The world economy ****s itself and we have a recession, or worse.

If they have a MY23 GT4 and the Fed, and other governments collectively pull off a soft landing for inflation and interest rates,
then expect no chance unless you are on a list with a deposit or have a very good relationship with your local Porsche Dealership.
My opinion of course.

My opinion is that Porsche will build plenty GT4RSs. This is based on all the marketing hype, and anticipated long production run - likely to be even longer with probable delays launching the new electric Cayman. My prediction of the GT4RS cycle will be yes, they will be ultra-scarce as enthusiasts like us get the first batch of them. But by late model 2024, I predict many more people will be able to order, and by 2025 model year, you will be able to choose between getting an ordered one or buy a pre-owned one. The net effect for Porsche is they will sell just as many Caymans as they have for the past 6 years, except they will mostly be GT4RSs, and earn a lot more money on each Cayman sale. Brilliant!

I think you are wrong, plain and simple. If they mass produce it, then they kill the market and the car becomes less special.
